This article will show you how to remove the voicemail icon from the notification bar at the top of the screen on an Android device.

Part 1 of 2: Basic Steps

1. 1 Reboot your device. Press and hold the power button until the menu opens, then tap Restart. This completes the process that displays the voicemail icon in the upper left corner of the screen.
   • Depending on your device model, you may have to click Restart twice.
2. 2 Remove notifications. Unlock your device, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel, and then tap Clear at the bottom of the panel.
   • On some devices, you need to swipe down from top to bottom with two fingers.
3. 3 Open your voicemail. If clearing notifications does not make the voicemail icon disappear, open voicemail to delete the voicemail messages. This can be done in one of the following ways, depending on the Android device model:
   • Dial the voicemail number provided by your cellular operator.
   • Click the Voicemail app icon in the app drawer.
4. 4 Play unheard voice messages. When the list of incoming voicemail messages opens, find and play each unheard message.
5. 5 Delete the heard voice messages. When you have listened to all messages, click Delete.
   • If your device has the Voicemail app, press and hold the Remove button or the trash can icon. In some cases, you need to press ⋮, tap Edit, tap on each voicemail, and then tap Delete.

Part 2 of 2: Clearing Data

1. 1 Launch the Settings app. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap on the "Settings" icon in the upper right corner of the menu.
   • On some devices, you need to swipe down from top to bottom with two fingers.
2. 2 Scroll down and tap Applications. It's in the middle of the Settings page. A list of installed applications will open.
3. 3 Scroll down and tap Telephone.
4. 4 Click on Storage. It's in the middle of the Phone app page.
5. 5 Tap Clear data. It's near the top of the page.
6. 6 Click on OKwhen prompted. The data associated with the Phone app will be deleted. The voicemail icon should disappear from the notification bar.
   • On Samsung Galaxy, tap Uninstall when prompted.
7. 7 Clear the Voicemail app data (if necessary). If your device has this app installed, clear its cache. To do this, launch the Settings app, tap Apps> Voicemail, tap Clear Data, and then tap OK or Delete when prompted.
8. 8 Call your carrier to report the problem. If the voicemail icon still appears in the notification bar, the problem is most likely due to an operator error. Contact the operator and ask them to clear their voicemail to resolve this issue.
   • You need to know your account login information for the operator to resolve the issue with your voicemail.
   • If the operator's actions are unsuccessful, reset the device to factory settings. This will erase all data in the device's memory, so please back up important information first.

Tips

• In some cases, to remove the voicemail icon, you need to press the End call key, which is defined by the voicemail service, and not the End call key.

Warnings

• Do not reset your device to factory settings if you have not already backed up important data (such as contacts, photos, etc.).
