Have you ever wanted to watch a DVD? Do you have a laptop? Don't have a DVD player? Don't like watching DVDs on a tiny laptop screen? Read this article!

Steps

1. 1 Locate the yellow connector on the computer.
2. 2 Insert the yellow (video) RCA plug of the cable into this jack.
3. 3 Connect the other end of the RCA cable to the video input of your TV.
4. 4 Find the headphone jack on your laptop.
5. 5 Insert one end of the 3.5mm audio cable into the headphone jack.
6. 6 Plug the other end of this cable into the appropriate jack on your TV.
   • You will need an adapter that splits the 3.5mm cable into left and right RCA channels; you can buy it at any electronics store, or maybe it will be bundled with your laptop.
7. 7 Your laptop should have a button (or a combination of buttons) - on some laptops this is the Fn + F8 combination, when you click on it, it will open the Control Panel monitor settings. A window with settings for using an external monitor should appear. Make sure you have the Duplicate option selected for your external display.
8. 8 Insert a DVD into your laptop, select the media player you want and enjoy!

Tips

• Many laptops do not have RCA video out. Instead, they have a VGA output, which requires a VGA cable. Some TVs have a VGA input, others need a VGA to RCA adapter. VGA to VGA (male to male) and VGA to RCA (male to male) cables are available from most electronics stores or online.
• If the screen resolution does not match your TV settings, you can change the resolution on your laptop by right-clicking on the Desktop and selecting Properties... Select a tab Settings... You should see a slider at the bottom left of the window that says Screen resolution... Move the slider to the desired setting value, press Apply and then OK in the confirmation window.

• Laptop with DVD playback capability (Most laptops manufactured after 2002 have this capability)
• DVD you want to watch
• TV with A / V input (most TVs manufactured after 1980 have one) or RF modulator (older TVs)
