In older versions of Dragon City, Pure Dragons were the rarest creatures that could only be obtained by bringing two Legendary Dragons together - and even then not a fact. In 2013, however, after the Law and War update, everything changed. Now purebred dragons can be bought after reaching a certain level, and then they can be bred - although the chance is small, you can get one of the six legendary dragons after that. Purebred dragons can also be used to breed hybrid dragons: purebred electric dragons, dark dragons, and other types.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Obtaining the First Pureblood Dragons

  1. 1 Get to level 34. Previously, purebred dragons were very rare, it could take a long time before you came across the first one. With the 2013 Law and War update, the situation has changed completely. Now your first purebred dragon can be bought for gold, but not earlier than level 34.
    • If you have extra gold, keep building and selling farms. Building "The Huge Food Farm" in this regard is the most profitable, if, of course, you can afford to build it. Do not spend too much, you will still need gold to buy a dragon.
  2. 2 Accumulate 15 million gold. Yes, that's how much purebred dragons cost. The amount is almost cosmic, so keep building and upgrading farms and it will pay off in the long run.
  3. 3 Buy a purebred dragon. Go to the dragon shop menu and select your first purebred. Many players refer to this dragon - the first available - as a "purebred unicorn" because of its distinctive appearance, but this is what a purebred dragon is all about.

Part 2 of 2: Breeding purebred dragons in order to obtain new types of dragons

  1. 1 To breed offspring of the hybrid type, mate a purebred dragon with other non-hybrid dragons. In almost every case, let it be known, mating a purebred with another first generation dragon produces a hybrid type of offspring. For example, a descendant of a purebred and dark dragon would be a "purebred dark dragon."
    • The two types of hybrids will have special names. So, mating a purebred with a dragon of war will give a kratus ("Kratus Dragon"), and mating a purebred with an archangel ("Light") - an enlightened dragon ("Zen Dragon").
  2. 2 Breed special dragons. Three special dragons can be obtained from a purebred dragon, namely:
    • Pairing a Level 15+ Thoroughbred with a Terra Dragon is the Ivory Dragon.
    • If you pair any purebred dragon with any dragon whose element is light in a level 7+ Sanctuary, there is a chance to get a Core Dragon. However, unusual combinations with sea dragons will also work.
    • If you pair any purebred dragon with any dragon whose element is flame in a level 7+ Sanctuary, there is a chance to get a Basilisk Dragon.
  3. 3 Pair purebred dragons for a legendary one. Whenever you mate two purebreds, there is a roughly 6% chance that the offspring will be a Legendary dragon. If you want to increase your chances of getting a legendary dragon, then mating two purebred dragons is your best option, since it only takes 12 hours to try each time. Other combinations have the same 6% chance, but alas, take much longer.
    • The downside to this approach is that you have a 94% chance of seeing another purebred as a descendant. If you are more interested in seeing new and interesting combinations in the offspring, then mate dragons that have the "Purebred" element - for example, cratus and purebred dark ones. You will have to wait longer, but this way, if the legendary dragon does not work out, there will be a chance to see something interesting.
    • If you only have one purebred dragon, it is best to mate purebred fire and purebred terrestrials with each other until you have either a legendary or a second purebred dragon.

Tips

  • Some dragons that are difficult to obtain can become "jokers" of sorts. You have a small chance of getting a thoroughbred by pairing two Mirror Dragon or Legendary and Crystal Dragon. However, getting such dragons is difficult, so it's worth starting to save gold to buy as early as possible.
  • There are six legendary dragons in total, plus you can get a few more dragons from mating them.

Warnings

  • There are many tutorials on the web about this article - alas, outdated ones. All because of the 2013 Law and War update.
