Are you stressed or unhappy? Need to calm down? Train your mind how to relax in order to feel rested and ready for anything at any time.

Steps

Method 1 of 1: Relaxing Your Mind

  1. 1 Certain foods can help you relax.
    • Chocolate... It has been shown that eating chocolate promotes the release of certain enzymes in your body that make you feel satisfied and happy [1]. Also, caffeine will boost your energy.
    • Water... Dehydration can lead to feelings of resentment and irritation. The human body needs a lot of water every day. Carry a bottle of water with you so you don't forget to drink.
    • Herbal tea... It may taste mild and may take a while to get used to, but you feel relaxed afterward.
  2. 2 Use lavender or another soothing scent. Make a bag of lavender and place it on your head, or smear lavender oil on your temples. Lie down and relax. Breathe in the soothing scent of lavender until you feel completely calm. Then lie down for another couple of minutes and slowly get up to meet the new day.
  3. 3 Meditation. Find a quiet place and focus on calming your mind. There are several forms of meditation such as mantra recitation, labyrinth, Sahaja Yoga, or Buddhist meditation. Remember meditation takes practice - the longer you meditate, the better you will get.
  4. 4 Drawing. Art is inspiration and comfort. Drawing can train your mind to focus. You don't have to be a master, just paint what you like. Something that makes you laugh is drawing a person, a landscape, or an animal.
  5. 5 Exercise regularly. Do yoga, flex your muscles, walk. Any activity will improve blood circulation, which will lead to the release of endorphins, which will make you feel happier and more energized.
  6. 6 Go out into nature. Go to the park, clear your mind. Fresh air will clear your mind, relax your body, and benefit your mental health. Try to go out as often as possible.
  7. 7 Listen to binaural beats. They will help you achieve a state of complete relaxation. Find a quiet, peaceful place where nothing will distract you, and put on your headphones. The most relaxing binaural beats are alpha beats.
  8. 8 Listen to soothing music. Your choice depends on your preference, be it jazz, ballads, folk or pop. Listen to it in the event that you do not need to devote your attention to something, as music can also distract you.
  9. 9 Spend time with yourself. Spending time with other people can negatively affect you. Spend time reading or taking a nap, watching TV, or doing your favorite hobby. You can also try something new. Learning to do things that you would never have thought of before can make you happy, satisfied and ready to conquer new heights. Also, if you have pets, pet them. This will calm you down too.
  10. 10 Spend time with your friends. If you're feeling depressed, your friend can cheer you up. Trust that person and maybe he can make you laugh. Do something together. For example, go for a walk, or have lunch, or dance.

Tips

  • Take a long, hot shower and enjoy the sound of water beating against your skin.
  • Choose a place that is quiet and peaceful. Close your eyes and listen to your breathing. Feel the air entering you and exhale slowly.
  • Write about something, in whatever manner you like. Write about the first thing that comes to your mind. Keeping a journal like this can be very reassuring.
  • Lie in an open area at night and gaze up at the sky and stars.
  • When you find the method that suits you best. Refine and apply it often. Over time, you will need less time to relax.
  • Lie in the sun. Warmth and light will cheer you up.
  • Find a quiet place and light a candle.
  • Take a bath while reading a book or listening to music. Close your eyes and pretend you are in a pool in the Caribbean overlooking the ocean.

Warnings

  • If you went out into nature alone, let someone know where you are going to go.
  • Remember to warm up before exercising.
