Windows Media Video (WMV) file is a compressed video format used by Microsoft on various Windows devices. With video converters such as Online Convert, Aiseesoft Video Converter, and WinAVI, WMV files can be converted to MP4 for playback on non-Windows devices.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Online Converter

1. 1 Go to the video converter page by going to: https://video.online-convert.com/ru/convert-to-mp4.
2. 2 Click Browse and select the WMV file you want to convert to MP4.
3. 3 Adjust the video settings in the "Advanced Settings" section and then click on "Convert File". The online conversion site will automatically convert the WMV file to MP4 and download it directly to your computer.

Method 2 of 3: Aiseesoft Video Converter

1. 1 Go to the official Softonic website at: http://aiseesoft-total-video-converter.en.softonic.com/.
2. 2 Download Aiseesoft Video Converter to your Windows or Mac computer.
3. 3 Double click on the installer and follow the instructions on the screen to install Aiseesoft Video Converter on your computer. When the installation is complete, the application will start automatically.
4. 4 Click on “Add File” in the upper left corner of the video converter.
5. 5 Select the WMV file you want to convert to MP4.
6. 6 Select “MP4” from the “Profile” drop-down menu located at the bottom of the Aiseesoft window.
   • If you plan to view the MP4 file on a specific device, click on “Settings”, select your device, and then select “MP4”. For example, if you plan to watch an MP4 file on the PlayStation 3 game console, click on “Settings”, select “PS3” as the device, and select “MP4”.
7. 7 Click on “Convert”. Aiseesoft Video Converter will automatically convert WMV file to MP4.

Method 3 of 3: WinAVI Converter

1. 1 Go to the WinAVI website by going to: http://www.winavi.com/wmv-to-mp4.htm.
2. 2 Click on the link "WinAVi All-In-One Converter" next to the item "Step1".
3. 3 Save the file to your desktop and then double-click it to start the installation.
4. 4 Follow the instructions on the screen to install WinAVI Video Converter on your computer. The application will launch automatically when the installation is complete.
5. 5 Click on the "Add Files" button at the top of the WinAVI window.
6. 6 Select the WMV file you want to convert to MP4.
7. 7 Click on "Common Video File" and select "MP4 File".
8. 8 Click OK. The WMV file appears in the WinAVI file list.
9. 9 Configure the video settings in the "Advanced" section, and then click "Start". WinAVI converts WMV file to MP4.
