Learn how to reopen a recently received snap or friend's story on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Remember that any snap can only be revisited once. Once you've opened a snap, stay on the Friends page to view it again.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Revisiting a Recently Received Snap

1. 1 Launch the Snapchat app. Tap the icon on your home screen or app drawer.
2. 2 Swipe right on the screen with the camera on. You will be taken to the "Friends" page, which will display a list of all received snaps.
3. 3 Tap the new snap. It will open for the first time.
4. 4 Stay on the Friends page. If you go to another page, for example, to your profile page or to a screen with the camera on, you will not be able to view the snap again.
   • Moreover, don't close the Snapchat app. If you close it or switch to another application, you will not be able to reopen the snap.
   • Don't open another snap. In this case, you will not be able to re-view the first snapshot.
5. 5 Press and hold the snap you recently opened. The pink or purple chat window on the left will be painted over again.
   • A “Press and hold to re-view” message appears under the name of the user from whom you got the snap. This means that the snap is available for reopening.
   • When the chat window is colored again, the message “Press and hold to view again” will turn into a message “New snap”.
   • When you open a snap for the first time, a message will appear stating that the snap can only be viewed once. Click Retry on the pop-up window.
6. 6 Click on the snap again. As soon as the pink or purple field is filled, tap the friend's name again to view their snap again.
   • You can reopen the snap (after the first view) only once.

Method 2 of 2: Revisiting History

1. 1 Launch the Snapchat app. Tap the icon on your home screen or app drawer.
2. 2 Swipe left on the screen with the camera on. You will be taken to the Discover page.
   • The stories are located in the "Friends" section at the top of the specified page.
3. 3 Click on a friend's story to view it. This will open the story for the first time.
   • The story thumbnail will turn into a round arrow icon when you first view the story.
4. 4 Tap the round arrow icon on your friend's story. The story will open again.
   • You can re-view stories an unlimited number of times (until their publication expires).
