What do you need

1 Take the painting you want to hang and attach it to the wall. It is worth thinking carefully about the location of the paintings in relation to the furniture and lighting in the room. Usually a good height for a painting is when the eye level is about one-quarter from the top of the painting, but overall this is a matter of taste.

Ask someone to hold the painting, then you can see from a distance if it is correctly positioned.
If no one is around, then attach the painting to the wall and mark the corners with a pencil. Then you can put the painting aside. take a couple of steps back and look at the location of the marks. Make adjustments as you wish and hang the painting. Erase the marks after the painting is hung.

2 Mark the middle of the picture along the top edge with a pencil on the wall. If you cannot determine the center by eye, then take a tape measure and measure and mark the middle of the picture along the top edge. There is no need to draw a large line, just mark the middle of the picture with an imperceptible stroke.

3 Place the painting face down on a flat surface. With the edge of the tape, hook the wire on which the picture will hang and pull the tape towards the top edge of the frame. Measure the distance from the wire to the top of the painting.

If the painting has a crossbar instead of a wire, measure the distance from the crossbar to the top of the painting.

4 Use this distance (from the mount to the top of the painting to determine where to place the nail or screw. Measure this distance down from the center mark on the wall, and make another mark for the hook. This will be the place where you will drive the nail. When measuring, make sure the line is vertical downward.

Method 2 of 3: Choosing hardware

1 Decide for yourself. what will serve as a crochet for the picture: a simple nail or a traditional crochet hook. They are suitable for paintings weighing no more than 9 kilograms.
- If you have a nail and a hammer: Choose a nail that is 4-6 cm long. Place the nail in the middle of the pencil mark and the previous step. Drive the nail in at a 45-degree angle to the wall. A 45 degree angle will hold the nail more tightly than a right angle.
- If you have a drill and screw: Drill a hole in the center of the pencil mark. Screw the screw into the hole.
- If you have a special crochet hook: Insert a nail into the hole on the hook. Attach the hook to the wall at the desired height (at the pencil mark) and hammer the nail into the wall (the hook will automatically position the nail at a 45 degree angle). Be careful not to hit the hook with a hammer - you may damage the wall.
2 Decide on accessories for paintings heavier than 9 kilograms. For heavier paintings, you need something stronger. Take a screw anchor or eyebolt.
- Screw anchor: This is the easiest way to hang a heavy picture. Drive the screw anchor into the wall with a screwdriver. Use a screwdriver to drive the screw into the anchor. Some screw anchors are sold with special hooks.
- Swing bolt: Drill a 13mm hole in the wall. Connect the drop ends to the base and insert the bolt into the hole with your thumb while holding the drop ends. Drive the bolt all the way in so that the flap ends open up on the other side of the wall. Pull the protective plastic cap out of the wall. An instruction manual is usually included with the eyebolt for your convenience.

Method 3 of 3: Hanging the Painting Exactly

1 Hang the painting neatly on the hardware of your choice. Before letting go of the painting, make sure it weighs firmly on the hook. If the painting is not secured well, it may fall and the frame or glass will break or shatter.
- If there is a nail or a screw on the wall, position the painting so that the wire in the back is firmly attached to the hook.
2 Use a level to determine if the painting weighs exactly. Place the level on top of the frame. If the bubble in the level is in the middle, then the picture is suspended exactly. If the bubble has moved to one side, then align the picture so that the bubble is in the middle.

Tips

Pictures in museums are usually hung so that the center of the picture is about one and a half meters from the floor.
You can find special kits for hanging pictures on sale. Using the special rack systems, you can move freely to add pictures without the need for additional nails and screws.
Hanging the painting straight will be easier if you attach two hooks to the wall at a distance from each other, even for a light painting. After hanging the painting, place a level to the top or bottom of the frame and adjust the painting to make it fun even.

Warnings

In general, these instructions will work for any painting and frame, but make sure the hook is strong enough for the weight of the painting you are going to hang.
Be careful when hammering nails into the wall and making holes with a drill: there may be piping or an electrician in the wall, which could cause damage, injury or even death.
Set the painting aside while working with the drill and hammer to avoid accidentally damaging it.
Make sure the wall can support the weight of the painting you are going to hang.
