Learn how to prevent the Facebook mobile app from receiving your geographic location in this article. The desktop version of Facebook does not have access to this information by default. You can also hide your location on Facebook Messenger to turn off geolocation on all Facebook services.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On iPhone

1. 1 Launch the Settings app . Tap the gray gear-shaped icon on the home screen.
2. 2 Scroll down and tap Facebook. You will find this application in the group of social media applications in the middle of the page.
3. 3 Tap Settings. You will find this option under the Facebook logo at the top of the screen.
4. 4 Click on Location. You will find this option at the top of the screen.
   • If this option is not displayed, Facebook geolocation is disabled.
5. 5 Tap Never. A blue checkmark will appear to the left of the Never option - Facebook no longer has access to your location.

Method 2 of 2: On an Android device

1. 1 Launch the Settings app . Click on the gear-shaped icon in the Application bar.
2. 2 Scroll down and tap Applications. It's in the middle of the settings page.
   • On some Android devices, you must first tap Device Manager to access the Apps option.
3. 3 Tap Application settings. This option may be referred to as Application Configurations.
4. 4 Click on App permissions. It's near the top of the page.
5. 5 Tap Location. You may have to scroll down the page to find this option.
6. 6 Scroll to Facebook and move the slider to the left . It will turn white. This slider is to the right of the Facebook option. This will turn off Facebook geolocation on your Android device.
   • If this option is not displayed, Facebook geolocation is disabled.

Tips

• To check your location history, go to the Location section in your app account settings.

Warnings

• To give Facebook access to your location, turn on geolocation on your device.
