Apple computers have a zoom feature in the operating system, so you can zoom in regardless of the program you are using. You can choose to zoom in or out on your browser, or your entire screen. Follow these instructions to zoom in and out on a Mac.
To step
Method 1 of 4: Preferences from Zoom on the Mac
Select the Apple icon in the top left corner.
Select "System Preferences" from the drop-down list.
Navigate to "System" and select "Universal Access.""These are the functions that are intended to improve the picture, sound or other properties for the hearing / visually impaired, or to increase accessibility.
Select the "See" tab. Look at the central part with the "Zoom" options. If Zoom is disabled, click the button to enable it.
- View the shortcut keys for zooming out by pressing the "Command", "Option" and the minus sign keys simultaneously. You can zoom in by pressing the Command, Option, and plus sign keys simultaneously.
- Learn the shortcut to turn the function on and off without going to Universal Access. You can press Option, Command and the number 8 while on the desktop to use this function. If the zoom function does not work, the zoom is probably disabled.
Method 2 of 4: Zoom with the mouse
Connect a mouse with a mouse wheel to your Mac computer.
Press "Control".
Hold down Control and roll the mouse wheel up to zoom in. Hold down Control and roll the mouse wheel down to zoom out.
Method 3 of 4: Zoom with a trackpad
Hold down Control.
Swipe up on the trackpad with two fingers at the same time to zoom in.
Swipe up on the trackpad with two fingers at the same time to zoom out.
Method 4 of 4: Zoom out of your browser
Open your browser on your Mac.
Go to the page you want to view.
Hold down Control.
Press the plus sign to zoom in. The browser will continue to zoom in, depending on the number of times you press the plus sign.
Press the minus sign while holding Control to zoom out. Press the minus sign several times to zoom out further.
- The browser method does not work for other programs outside of your browser. It is simply intended to be able to view web pages in a different way.
- While major browsers such as Safari, Google Chrome and Firefox use this keyboard shortcut system to zoom, other browsers may not respond in the same way.
