Steps

1. 1 Touch the dog's nose. Ideally, it should be cold and wet. If it is dry, then the dog is mildly dehydrated.
2. 2 Check your gums. The gums should be as wet as the nose. If they are sticky and somewhat dry, this indicates insufficient production of saliva in the dog, she needs to drink.
3. 3 Fill your dog's bowl with clean water. Dogs love cool water or room temperature water.
4. 4 If the dog needs more water replenishment, give him a few spoonfuls of Pedialight or Gatorade *. Electrolytes will help your puppy recover.

Warnings
