Today WikiHow teaches you how to watch DVDs on your Windows PC using the VLC media player. Currently, Windows 10 doesn't have a built-in option that lets you watch DVDs, but you can download VLC player for free to play DVDs and watch videos. If your Windows computer does not have a built-in DVD player, you will have to purchase an internal or removable DVD drive to view the DVD.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Installing VLC

   Click Apps (Application). This looks like a list of horizontal lines with bullets.

   Click Default apps (Default application). This tab is on the left side of the Apps menu.

   Scroll down to the "Video player" section and click the current application. The most popular current application is Movies & TV, located just below the "Video player" heading.

Part 3 of 3: Play DVDs with VLC

   Insert the DVD into the DVD drive on the computer. Remember to turn the side with the DVD sticker on it.
   • If the computer runs VLC automatically, the DVD will start playing.

   Open VLC. On the screen there is a shortcut; otherwise, type "vlc" into the Start search box and then click the VLC icon.

   Click Media. This tab is in the top left of the VLC window. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click Open Disc (Open Disc). This option is near the top of the menu Media drop down. A separate window for you to adjust the DVD to your liking will appear.

   Click the button Play (Play) is located at the bottom of the window. Wait a moment, the DVD will start playing.
   • If your DVD has a title screen like most other DVDs, you need to click on the task you want (such as Play good Scene Select).

Advice

• Windows Media Player no longer supports DVD playing.
• If you don't want to use VLC, there are plenty of other media players you can find online, such as RealPlayer and DivX.

Warning

• Avoid using the Windows DVD Player app as you have to pay $ 14.99 (about 330,000 VND) to download and it only works for some types of DVDs.
