Attention:this article is intended for persons over 18 years of age. Do you smoke a cigar for the first time? It looks like it's time to learn how to trim it correctly. This skill can be useful even if you are not going to smoke cigars, for example, you can do it to people at parties and holidays.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Straight Cut Method with Cigar Guillotine

1. 1 Select the correct end of the cigar for the cut. This is the side that will be in the mouth, also called the head of the cigar. The opposite end of a cigar is called a leg. The head is easy to distinguish as it usually has a lid, tightly packed with tobacco around it to hold the binder sheet.
   • Also, the head can be easily distinguished by the close location of the cigar bow (logo of the cigar brand) next to it.
2. 2 Determine where the "shoulder" of the cigar ends. The shoulder is the part of the cigar where the curled end begins to straighten out. Directly above the shoulder, where the twisted portion has not yet ended, you will make the incision.
3. 3 Take the cigar with the thumb and forefinger of your main hand.
4. 4 Place the cigar in the guillotine and cover one eye to accurately position the cigar. Align it so that the cut is exactly over the shoulder of the cigar.
   • Remember, it's better to cut off less than more. You can always start over and cut a little more, but you cannot put the cut cigar back in place. Better to proceed with caution than regret later.
5. 5 Quickly cut the cigar in one smooth motion with sufficient force. Hold the cigar firmly with your other hand and try not to move it in the process.
   • The key to success is speed. You want the guillotine to quickly cut a piece of cigar rather than slowly tear apart the tobacco leaves.
   • Check if your blade is sharp enough. As with kitchen knives, the sharper your guillotine, the better. As long as you don’t feel (and you don’t feel), you will never regret that you have sharp enough tools.

Method 2 of 4: Punch incision method

1. 1 Take the cigar punch. The cigar punch cuts a hole in the cigar head. There are three types of cigar punches:
   • Bullet Puncher: Looks like a keychain, it can be worn in a keychain, when swiveled, a sharp blade comes out that cuts a hole in the cigar head.
   • Havana Punch: More reliable than a bullet, it has a built-in tip that retains the cut tobacco.
   • Universal Punch: Offers a variety of sizes to choose from to cut different holes.

3. 3 Once the blade is inserted into the head, rotate it around its axis to make a circular cut, then remove the blade. The cut piece will come out next.

Method 3 of 4: Cutting a groove with a V-cutter

1. 1 Use a V-cutter for better cigar pull. The V-shaped cutter will improve the traction of tobacco smoke by cutting a special groove in the cigar head. The only drawback of such a cutter is that the thrust can become too strong, causing the smoke to be hotter.
   • A very good V-cutter should fit on a table, but is too large to carry around. The smallest one will be comparable in size to a conventional guillotine and at a cost will not exceed two hundred rubles.
   • The V-cutter will not cut off most of the cigar head, meaning the cigar will remain intact.
2. 2 Hold the cigar in one hand and the V-cutter in the other (main) hand, open.
3. 3 Place the end of the cigar in the cutter recess. Make sure the edge of the head does not go too far into the cutter, otherwise the cut will be too large.
4. 4 Pressing the cigar into the cutter, close the cutter blades. Tap the tip of the cigar, or simply blow on it, to remove any remaining tobacco.

Method 4 of 4: The Bite Method

1. 1 Remember that biting off is not the best way and can lead to an unpleasant smoking experience. While this is an odd method, it will work ... as a last resort. All other things being equal, if you can use any other method, then you should not use the nibble method.
2. 2 Place the cigar between your teeth as in a guillotine.
3. 3 Bite gently while turning the cigar.
4. 4 After a few bites, the end of the cigar will be removed and you can safely detach it with your hands or mouth.

Tips

• Always choose a quality cigar cutter and remember the sharper the better.

Warnings

• If you cut off too much of the head, the cigar shell will come apart; if you cut it too small, the cravings will be much worse, and the cigar may go out while smoking.
• Make sure to cut off the head in one quick motion, otherwise you can ruin the cigar and it will become unusable.
