If you have changed your email address, do not rush to forward your new address to your friends. Set up mail forwarding so that all received messages from Yahoo are automatically forwarded to your Gmail account. In addition, Gmail can be configured to accept all emails from Yahoo, and even send them from your Yahoo address.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Forwarding Mail

1. 1 Sign in to your Yahoo mail account. Yahoo can be configured to forward emails to any email address, including Gmail. Many users have encountered problems setting up email forwarding, so if this method doesn't work, skip to the next section.
2. 2 Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "Settings", after which a new window will open.
3. 3 Click the "Accounts" tab. Here you will see your Yahoo mail account and other associated accounts.
4. 4 Click on your Yahoo mail account at the top of the Accounts window. This will open your Yahoo mail account settings.
5. 5 Scroll down and select the Forwarding option. This will allow you to forward messages to other accounts.
6. 6 Choose what to do with the forwarded mail. Yahoo will keep your email in the account after it is sent to another address. Forwarded emails can be left as they are or marked as read.
7. 7 Enter the email address where you would like to forward all your emails and click Submit to send a verification email to the address provided.
8. 8 Allow pop-ups if your browser is blocking them. Many browsers block the confirmation popup. If the pop-up does not appear, click on the pop-up icon at the beginning of the address bar and enable pop-ups on Yahoo Mail.
9. 9 Open the confirmation email that was sent to the address you provided. With this message, you must confirm that you are the owner of the specified account.
10. 10 Click on the link in the email to verify that you are the account owner and add it to your Yahoo mail account.

Method 2 of 2: Check Yahoo Mail in Gmail

1. 1 Open your Gmail inbox. Set up Gmail to download messages from Yahoo so you no longer need to go to Yahoo mail.Try this method if you are unable to set up email forwarding.
   • If the Inbox window opens instead of the Gmail window, click the Gmail link in the Inbox menu.
2. 2 Click on the gear icon and select "Settings". The Gmail settings page will open.
3. 3 Click the Accounts & Import tab to change your account settings.
4. 4 Click on the link "Add mail account".
5. 5 Enter the address of your Yahoo mail account. Gmail lets you add up to five different email accounts.
6. 6 Enter your Yahoo password. This will allow Gmail to receive mail from Yahoo.
7. 7 Check the box next to "Label incoming messages" and click "Add account." Now, incoming messages from Yahoo will be tagged with a unique tag. The rest of the settings can be left as they are.
8. 8 Decide if you want to send messages from your Yahoo address. If you enable this feature, you can select your Yahoo address as the sender address when you send a new message.
   • If you choose to send messages through your Yahoo mail account, you will be asked to confirm that you own it.
9. 9 Find your posts from Yahoo. Your messages will be tagged with a Yahoo address. This will make it easier for you to find new messages. Gmail will receive messages from Yahoo at regular intervals.
   • If you leave the default settings, forwarded messages will be deleted from Yahoo's servers after they have been forwarded to Gmail.
