Four squares is a fun game for children and adults, although many remember it from school years. The game is to throw the ball to your opponent, who must throw it back at you. It's like football, but you need to play with your hands.

Steps

  1. 1 Make sure you know the rules. Some people think they are following the rules of the game, while others don't. There is a crystal ball technique where you cannot miss the ball or you will lose.
  2. 2 Each player must be in one of four squares.
  3. 3 Remember that the most important square is square number 4.
  4. 4 Throw the ball by hitting your square. Then drop it into the first square. Make sure that the ball hits the correct square and that it does not overshoot the line. When "serving", the ball must not go beyond the boundaries of your square.
  5. 5 Throw the ball back. Whoever hits the ball must throw it to any other player.
  6. 6 Keep playing until the ball is out of the square, or until it hits your own square twice. This will mean your loss. All other players throw the ball depending on whether it hits the line and whether there will be a conflict between the one who threw the ball and the one who caught it.
  7. 7 Move the player who was eliminated from the game to the lowest level (joker), unless there are those who want to play; the one who leaves the game goes to the end of the queue, while the next person in the queue takes the place of the joker. When someone leaves the game, each player moves to the next square.

Tips

  • Some people come up with other rules, like popcorn, where instead of directly throwing the ball to someone, you toss it and then throw it, or if the ball is almost out of the square, you can catch it and toss it in the air. There is also a cherry bomb in which you toss the ball in the air, bounce and throw it to the ground. One variation is when someone throws the ball out of their own square, and if another player with a cherry bomb cannot catch it in ten seconds, they are out of the game. In addition, there is the so-called lobster, in which you need to throw the ball high. This means that you must throw the ball so that it does not hit your square. Make sure you play lobster well before you accept the rules of this game. Some also make up rules to get other players out of the game. For example, when you throw the ball and it hits the square of another player, who in turn did not hit the ball, this is considered a "steal", due to which this person goes to the end of the line.
  • Although there is no “winner” in this game, the person who is skilled with the ball is considered the winner.
  • There are different kinds of feeds that have been invented by different people. For example, a skyscraper in which you hit the ball hard in your own square, so that it flies very high, and your opponent has to work hard to catch it.
  • If one of the other players creates a team, you have no chance of winning. Create your own team and play together. Cherry bombs are against the rules, but you can play either by the rules or against them. Cherry bombs are considered slang for a strong blow or overhead blow.
  • Draw and number the squares with chalk or tape so everyone knows where they should stand and to indicate the boundaries of the playing field.
  • The size of the squares is not very important, but the standard size is 1.5m × 1.5m. It is natural that the larger the square, the more difficult it is to hit it, but if the squares are small, you will not have enough space to catch the ball.
  • Instead of fighting for the best position, try rock-paper-scissors.

Warnings

  • Balls at high speeds can injure you or others, so be careful.
  • Depending on where you live, the rules can be “very” different. This is just one type of this game.

What do you need

  • At least 4 players
  • One "kick ball" (medium size)
  • Chalk or tape
