Laptop screens often accumulate dirt, food debris, and other foreign matter after a while and start to become ugly. It is very important that you use a mild detergent to clean the laptop screen, as the LCD surface is easily damaged. If you don't want to buy a special screen cleaner, you can use a cloth made of synthetic microfiber and a vinegar solution.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Clean the screen with a synthetic microfiber towel

1. 

   Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord and battery. An active screen cleaning can cause permanent damage, so you should be safe and turn off all the devices instead of turning it on in sleep mode.

   Prepare a synthetic microfiber towel. This towel is made from lint-free material and is very soft.If you use plain towels, t-shirts or other towels, they can leave debris on the screen or scratch the surface.
   • Avoid using paper products. Do not use napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, or other paper, as these can scratch and damage the screen.
   • Synthetic microfiber towels are suitable for cleaning all types of screens and lenses.

Method 2 of 3: Use a sanitizing solution

1. 

   Turn off the monitor and unplug the power cord and battery. Since this method uses liquid to clean the screen, it is important that you turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.

   Make a mild cleaning solution. The ideal solution is distilled water that is gentle and chemical free for monitors. If you need a stronger solution, you can mix 50/50 white vinegar and distilled water is also effective.
   • Use only pure white vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar or other vinegar.
   • Distilled water is better than tap water because it does not include chemicals.

   • Wet towels may drip or slip while cleaning the monitor, and solution may leak the bezel and permanently damage the screen.
   • Try spraying the solution into one corner of the washcloth each time, so the towel isn't too wet.

   Wipe the cloth on the screen in circular motions. Fast circular movements in general can remove streaks. Press gently and evenly on the towel. Use just enough force to make contact with the screen. Be careful not to press your finger on the towel or screen, as excessive pressure when cleaning the screen can permanently damage the LCD matrix and become unusable.
   • Keep the monitor at the top or bottom to avoid getting dirty during cleaning.

Method 3 of 3: Know what not to do

1. 

   Never dampen the screen directly. Under any circumstances, do not spray water directly on the laptop screen. This makes it easy for water to flow into the device, so you should minimize it. Use water only when blotting soft fabrics.

• Paper towels, napkins, or other paper product will leave crumbs on the screen. It is best not to use them. These may contain wood fibers and scratch shiny surfaces.
• Do not use tap water on the screen.
• If you're a photographer, you can use a lint-free lens wipe instead of a soft cotton cloth.
• If you have a cleaning solution for eyeglasses, check to see if it contains "Isopropanol". If so, it is not recommended for LCD monitors.
• Use a cotton swab soaked in solution to clean nooks and crannies.
• If you spill too much solution and the towel is watery or wet, you can wipe it off with a soft cloth and reduce the amount of solution.

• The market's disposable wet / dry LCD washcloth can solve the above as well as untold problem. Wet towels dampened with the correct amount of cleaning solution do not leak water or slip onto the screen. These towels contain no lint and leave no stripes when used according to the instructions.
• Turn off the laptop, unplug and remove the battery before cleaning or you will damage pixels on the LCD screen.
