Method 1 of 2: Check for Blue Dots

1. 1 Launch the Snapchat app. The app icon looks like a white ghost on a yellow background.
2. 2 Swipe right. This will take you to the chat screen.
3. 3 Click on a user to open a chat window with him.
4. 4 Find the blue dot. If you and another user have chat windows open at the same time, a blue dot appears above the left corner of the text box.
   • If the desktop receives a notification that another user is typing something for you, then at the time of this notification, he is typing a message in Snapchat.

Method 2 of 2: Checking the delivery status of a message

1. 1 Launch the Snapchat app. If you've recently sent a user a message, check to see if they opened it. This is a good indication if he is online.
2. 2 Swipe right. After that, you will find yourself on the chat screen.
3. 3 View the status of the message sent. It is located under the recipient's username.
   • If the user opened the message, the status will say "Opened / Viewed".
