This wikiHow teaches you how to save the snap taken before sending it, as well as the snap you received into the Camera Roll.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Save your snap before sending

1. 

   Open Snapchat. A yellow app with a white ghost image on the screen, or in a certain folder on the Home screen.
   • If you haven't already set up and created a Snapchat account, you'll need to proceed before proceeding.

   Swipe down. Snapchat always has the front camera open, so you need to swipe down to open the Snapchat home screen.

   Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Snapchat's settings menu will appear.

   Click Memories. This option is below My Account (My account) is in the top half of the settings menu.

   Click Save To (Save to) below options Saving (Save) is at the bottom of the Memories menu.

   Choose Camera Roll Only. This allows you to save the snap directly to the photo gallery on your phone before sending it.
   • Choose Memories if you just want to save photos to Snapchat Memories (personal albums of snapshots and favorite stories that you can find and share). Learn more online about how to use Snapchat Memories.
   • Choose Memories & Camera Roll if you want to save to Snapchat server and your phone's photo library.

   Return to the Snapchat home screen. Press the back button in the upper left corner of the screen until you reach the homepage.

   Swipe up on the Home screen. Camnera Snapchat will open.

   Snap snap. Click the Capture button to take a photo, or hold it for a long time to record a video. This large circular button is at the bottom of the screen and will disappear when you are finished shooting. Once the photo or video is recorded, you can customize the snap with text, drawings and stickers.
   • Click on the icon pencil in the upper right corner to draw up snap. You can change the color of the brush stroke by clicking on the color series icon below the pencil image. A bar of colors will appear when you tap the pencil icon, and the pencil also shows the current color of the text.
   • Click on the text icon T in the upper right corner next to the pencil to add a caption. A virtual keyboard will appear in the bottom half of the screen and you can begin editing. Press the T again to choose a different color, or make the text larger.
   • Click on the icon square next to the letter T at the top of the screen. The sticker menu will appear. Select the sticker you want to add to the snap. You can also add Bitmoji emojis from this menu.
   • Click on the icon scissors to create your own sticker. This allows you to copy and paste anything into the snap.

    Press the button Saved. The down arrow icon next to the shutter timer button is in the lower left corner of the screen. After you tap, the photo will be saved to the camera roll. advertisement

Method 2 of 2: Save the snap you get

1. 

   Open Snapchat. A yellow app with a white ghost image on the screen, or in a certain folder on the Home screen.

   Swipe right. Snapchat always opens the front camera screen, so you need to swipe right to go to the Chat page and see the snap you received.

3. 

   Click on the snap you want to save. The Snap will open and you have 10 seconds to watch it again.
   • You can only view the snap once a day.You cannot view or take a snapshot that you have previously opened and closed, unless you snap a snapshot right during playback.

4. 

   Take a screenshot before the snap expires. Hold down the button source and Home at the same time and then let go. You will hear the camera shutter sound and the monitor flashes, indicating that the screenshot has just been taken. Screenshot of the snap will be saved to the camera roll. advertisement
