This wikiHow teaches you how to connect a PC to a TV using an HDMI cable. When you connect your PC to your TV, you'll be able to project your computer screen onto your TV and watch movies or browse the Internet on the big screen. All you need is to connect two devices using an HDMI cable.

Part 1 of 2: Connecting PC to TV

1.

   Click System (System). This option is next to the laptop icon at the top of the Windows Settings menu.

   Click display (Screen). This is the first option in the menu bar on the left. The Display setting will appear.

   Scroll down and click Detect (Detect). This option is at the bottom of the Display Settings menu. Windows will detect all connected monitors.
   • Adjust the resolution if necessary for a better display on TV. If you have an HDTV, choose 1920 x 1080 in the "Resolution" drop-down menu. For 4K TVs, the right resolution is 3840 x 2160 or higher (if applicable) in the "Resolution" menu.

Advice

• If the sound is played through computer speakers or laptops instead of the TV, open the Control Panel, select Sound and look for TV in the playback tab. If you don't see the TV in it, you can right-click on a white background and select Show Disabled Devices.
