This is an article that guides you how to re-enable your Instagram account after it has been temporarily deactivated, as well as how to complain about when your Instagram account is locked. However, if the account is deleted, your only option is to create a new account.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Re-activate the account
Make sure your account is deactivated for a certain period of time. After choosing to disable your account, Instagram usually takes a few hours to complete the process. During this period, you won't be able to reactivate your account.
- If your account has been deactivated for more than a day, you can sign in again as usual.
Note that you can't reactivate a deleted account. If you choose to delete your Instagram account, you won't be able to re-activate after deleting.
Open Instagram. Choose the Instagram app with a multicolored camera icon.
Enter your account name or email address or phone number in the first field. You can use any login information related to the account you want to reactivate.- Depending on Instagram's current display, you must first select the button or link Log In (Login) to view the login page.
Enter your password in the "Password" field.- If you don't remember your password, you'll need to reset it.
Choose Log in (Login) at the bottom of the screen. As soon as your account information is entered correctly, you will log into Instagram and reactivate your account.
Follow the instructions on the screen. Depending on how long you have deactivated your Instagram account, you will need to either agree to the updated Terms of Use or confirm your phone number before you can access your account.
- Signing in will re-activate your account, so you don't need to perform any further activation after you sign in again.
Method 2 of 3: Complain when the account is locked
Confirm your account is suspended. Open the Instagram app and try to login with the correct information. If you see a message "Your account has been disabled" (or something similar) displays after you choose Log in (Login), Instagram has locked your account due to a violation of the Terms of Use.
- If you see an error message (such as "Incorrect password or username"), your account is not locked by Instgram. Try to see how to fix login problems.
Submit a complaint to Instagram. Go to https://help.instagram.com/contact/606967319425038 using your web browser. You can use this form to ask Instagram for permission to access your account.
Enter your name. In the "Full name" field near the top of the page, enter your first and last name as shown on your Instagram account.
Type in your username. Enter your Instagram username in the "Your Instagram Username" field.
Enter the email address and phone number one by one. You can do this in the "Your email address" and "Your phone number" fields.
Enter a complaint request. In the last field on the page, write a brief message explaining why you think your account should be reactivated. When writing your complaint, be sure to follow the instructions below:
- Explain why your account was deactivated and you believe deactivating it is a mistake.
- Avoid apologizing as this implies a mistake.
- Keep your tone of voice relaxed and avoid using impolite language.
- End with a thank you.
Click the button Send blue at the bottom of the page. This will send a complaint to Instgram; If they choose to re-activate your account, you can sign in when prompted.
- You can repeat the complaints process a few times a day until Instagram makes a decision.
Method 3 of 3: Troubleshooting login
Try signing in with your email or phone number. If attempts to sign in with your username are unsuccessful, try using your email address or phone number.
- Likewise, you would try signing in with your username if you normally use an email address or phone number.
- The password must be entered correctly regardless of what information you choose to sign in with.
Reset Password. If you can't remember your Instagram account's password, you can reset it on your phone or computer.
Turn off your phone's Wi-Fi when signed in. If the Instagram app (not your credentials) is having problems, using mobile data instead of Wi-Fi might fix the login problem.
Use another platform to access Instagram. Your phone or computer may contain caching information that prevents you from signing in to your account; If so, you can fix the problem by trying to login using your phone, computer or another browser.
Uninstall and reinstall the Instagram app. In some cases, reinstalling Instagram will resolve login issues caused by the app.
- If the Instagram app hasn't been updated in a while, this will also get you the latest version of the app.
Consider if you are in violation of Instagram's Terms of Use. If you get a notification that your account doesn't exist, Instagram probably deleted your account for a violation of the Terms of Use.
- Some common offenses include posting sensitive content, disrespecting others, advertising malicious and deceptive products.
- Violation of the Terms of Use often causes your account to hang or be deleted without prior notice.
Advice
- Using a service to access Instagram's API (such as an app that helps you post photos, a service that tells you who unfollowed, etc.) often results in an account disabled.
- Backup Instagram photos to make sure you're okay if the account is deleted.
- Occasionally Instagram still has errors that prevent you from logging in even if the login information is correct. For this reason, you shouldn't worry if the account fails to login successfully; Wait a day and then try again.
