There will be times when you need to change your Facebook name for personal reasons such as: you have just completed the renaming procedure or want your professional life to be separate from your private life. Facebook does not allow us to use fake names, however you can change your real name four times. To change your Facebook name, you'll need to log into Facebook and go to the "Account Settings" option, then click on your name to open the name editor. Similarly, if you use the app on your phone, go to "General" and select "Name". Change your first, middle, and primary name accordingly, then click "Save Changes" to complete the renaming.

Steps

1. 

   Open your account settings page. Log into Facebook, then click on the gear icon in the top right corner of the page and select “Account Settings”.
   • To access the settings page for the mobile app, tap the menu button in the upper left corner of the screen, then scroll down to Account Settings, select General, then tap Name.

   Click on your name to open the name editor. You can enter your first, middle and last name, and add an alternate name, such as maiden name (if you are married to a foreign husband), nickname, and so on.
   • You can only rename four times.
   • Facebook wants you to enter the name on your identity card or credit card.
   • You cannot arbitrarily capitalize, use symbols, numbers, or punctuation.
   • Your middle name cannot be words or phrases.
   • Your nickname should be a variation from your primary name (Lyn for Linh, Bin for Binh, etc.)

   Enter your real name. Facebook does not allow you to impersonate anyone else or create pages for fictional characters. Accounts that violate these rules will be forced to rename them.
   • If you want to create an account for an organization, business or pet, you'll need to create your own page.

   Enter your password. You need to enter your account password in the dialog box to save your recent changes.

   Click Save Changes. Your new name will be saved and the changes will be displayed on your Profile shortly. It usually takes about 24 hours for a name change to be approved. advertisement

Warning

• Facebook limits the number of times / frequency of renaming you. Don't take this as a joke and change your name to something you don't like, because Facebook may terminate your renaming privileges Later on and you will be stuck with some weird name, such as Le Gibbon.
