Learning a new language is not easy, but it is not impossible. The language learning process is divided into four parts: reading, writing, listening and speaking. If you want to learn English faster, you can get started with Step 1 below.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Interesting method

1. 

   Read, read, read. One of the easiest ways to learn English fast is to read as much as possible. Read anytime, anywhere. This will increase your vocabulary as well as help you learn grammar and slang.
   • Read comics. If you don't want to read a children's book, you can replace it with an easier method than reading a picture. You can buy many English comic books at bookstores and online, or read free comics online (these are often called webcomics).
   • Read books that you've read before. You can also read books that you've read before. If you know briefly the content, you will easily judge and understand the words.
   • Read the paper. Newspapers are an effective way to learn basic language, as they often use standard grammar and are written in a way that is easy to understand. You can read English newspapers online such as The New York Times or The Guardian.

   Watch movie. Watching movies is also a way to help you improve your English through listening and learning new words. You can watch movies with subtitles, but you will learn more by turning subtitles off. Once you have a basic vocabulary, you should turn off the subtitles and focus on listening to the vocabulary you know and guess the meaning of new words based on the events that are happening in the movie.

   Play MMO games. MMO is a multiplayer online game. You can choose players from within an English-speaking country to get the chance to chat and learn from them. Try playing Guild Wars, World of Warcraft, or The Elder Scrolls Online.

4. 

   Find friends by mail online. Mail buddies are people who are learning the language you use for handwriting (or email) and who are sending you letters back. You write half of the letter in your native language for them to practice and the other half in English so you can practice. You can write about anything you want! You can find friends through online mail on many websites.

   Make friend. You can also make friends with English speakers online and chat, send mail, and chat on Skype to practice English. You can find friends online by joining a community of fans or language communities such as Fluentify.

   Sing songs. Learning and singing songs is another great way to improve your English. This method helps you learn about sounds in English (rhymes will help you learn pronunciation). This also helps improve vocabulary. Find a song you love, research it, and find out the meaning of the lyrics. advertisement

Part 2 of 3: Take it seriously

1. 

   Take part in the course. English courses help you learn the most important words and grammar, and can ensure that you are learning the right method. There are two main ways to take English courses:
   • Take an online course. You can take courses online. Some courses charge fees and others don't. Tuition courses are usually better than free courses, but not always! Some of the best online programs out there are LiveMocha and Duolingo.
   • Take a course at school. You can study at your local college or English school.These courses are free, but teacher support is important and will help you learn faster than self-study.

2. 

   Write diary. This way you have to apply your writing skills and vocabulary. It also forces you to practice writing new sentences, instead of just repeating the sentences you already know. You can journal every day or keep a small notebook to write new words as you hear or encounter them.

3. 

   Travel to an English speaking country. Traveling to a place where everyone speaks English will help you learn a lot faster. Get a temporary job or study abroad in an English-speaking country. Alternatively you can go on short trips, but immerse yourself in the language for at least 3 months for best results.

4. 

   Teach yourself. Of course you can teach English yourself. The trick to quickly teaching yourself English is to focus on the content that matters most to you. Spend all your free time studying and using English as often as possible.

5. 

   Take advantage of online tools. There are many online tools available to help you learn English faster, from flashcards to mobile apps. You can use ANKI (flashcards), Memrise (flashcards and more), or Forvo (pronunciation guide).

6. 

   Immersed. This is one of the most effective language learning methods. This means that you need to learn English every day, for at least 3 hours a day. One hour per week study time is not enough. If you can spend at least 6 hours practicing listening, writing, and speaking English, this will be most effective for you. advertisement

Part 3 of 3: Do's and don'ts

1. 

   Study words in small groups. When learning new words, you shouldn't learn too many words. Just learn a few words at a time and don't learn new words until you really fluent those words.

2. 

   Label everything in the house. Label each object in the house to help you learn vocabulary. This helps you relate to the picture when you see the word, instead of having to translate everything in your mind.

3. 

   Take advantage of Google Images. The Google image search is a great way to learn nouns (and other types of words) in a language. Find new words in the image finder and the image pops up to help you learn!

4. 

   Do not study with flashcards. In general, you shouldn't use flashcards that only contain vocabulary (English words on one side and vernacular words on the other). This teaches you how to translate everything, making you slow to understand English while listening. Instead, you should learn English words with sounds or pictures.

5. 

   Don't focus too much on grammar. One thing about English is that most people do not speak standard grammar and very few people can apply grammar fluently when speaking. If you only spend all your time learning grammar, you will waste a lot of time. Maybe you are not right. Others will edit, and you will absorb it over time. Eventually the words will sound correct and you don't even have to think about them.

6. 

   Don't hesitate to try! The most important thing when it comes to learning a language fast is just speaking. Use as much language skills as possible. Don't be afraid of misapplication or saying something is not right. Not using skills slows you down. Instead say a lot because you can do this! advertisement

• When writing a sentence, stop for a minute and read aloud. Clear error correction.
• When you come across words that you don't know: look up the dictionary to increase your vocabulary.
