This wikiHow teaches you how to insert text or link to other text into a Microsoft Word document on a Windows or Mac computer.

Steps

1. 

   edge option Object (Object). This option is in the Text group to the right of the top toolbar.
   • On a Mac computer, click Text to expand the group.

   Select the file type to insert.
   • Click Object ... to insert a PDF file, an image, or some other type of non-text file into a Word document. Then click From File ... (From File) to the left of the open dialog box.
     • If you want to insert a link to the file or its icon instead of the entire document, be intrigued Options (Optional) is located on the left side of the dialog box and check it Link to File (Link to file), Display as Icon (Show as icons) or both.
   • Click Text from File ... (Text from file) to insert content from a text file or another Word document into the current document.
