Almost everyone has had a hard time buying a hat: The hat looks great and incredibly luxurious on the mannequin, but you find painfully that the hat on your head is completely out of place want. And then, you're stuck in a vicious circle where each hat looks odd or silly when you wear it. You are obsessed with hats. Time to start over and get on with the adventure. By choosing a favorite hat based on the shape of your face, you can add flair and sharpness to your look.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Measuring face size
Measure your forehead. Use a measuring tape to measure the forehead. Measure from the top of the arch on one side to the top of the opposite eyebrow bow. Record your measurements.
Measure your cheekbones. Using a tape measure, measure the distance between your cheeks. Starts and ends at the raised point below the outer corner of each eye. Write down your measurements.
Measure your function. Using a tape measure, measure from the top of your chin to the bottom of your ear. Stop where the jaw is pointing up. Multiply that number by 2. Record the number. This is your “lower jawline”.
Measure your face length. Using a tape measure, measure from the center of the forehead (at the hairline) to the tip of the chin. Put that number down.
Ask yourself three questions. Use these metrics to guide and ask yourself the following:
- What is the most blooming part of your face?
- What does your function look like?
- How long is your face? Is it longer than the width, if so how much?
Part 2 of 3: Determining your face style
Look for an "oval face". The oval face will be about one and a half times longer than its width. The forehead is slightly larger than the jawline and the jaw angle will be a bit more rounded. The oval face will look like an egg.
Look for a "round face". Round faces will be the same width and length. A round face with a rounded chin, full cheeks, and rounded hairline. It makes you look younger than the other face styles.
Look for an "elongated face". Elongated faces have a length greater than its width. The forehead, cheekbones and jawbone of the oblong face will be of similar size. An elongated face can have a high forehead.
Look for a "heart shaped face". This face type is very popular. In a heart shaped face, the chin is the narrowest part. A heart-shaped face has a broad forehead and / or broad cheeks and a pointed chin.
Look for the "square face". The square face is approximately the same length as the width. The distance from forehead to chin and cheek to cheek is about the same.

Part 3 of 3: Choosing a hat for your face style
Choose a hat for an "oval face". Feel free to try out all kinds of hats! You are blessed with a very versatile look! Choose whatever suits your mood, as long as the hat matches your outfit. Women with oval faces can wear any hat.

- Try these together with earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
Choose a hat for "round face". Add an asymmetrical touch to your look. You can completely wear soft hats, newsboy hats (featured hats of newsboys) or cap. This symmetrical face needs a new angle: asymmetry. The roundness of the face requires a way to slim down.
- Stay away from round caps, they can increase the roundness of your face.
- It's better to choose a hat with a high tip and a straight brim to add more angular edges to your face.
