Editing π on the keyboard is as complicated as applying π to a formula. However, creating a symbol is not as difficult as you might think, whether you are using a Mac or a regular computer. If you want to know how to insert the π in seconds or even faster, just follow these simple steps.

Steps

Method 1 of 6: Insert the pi symbol on the Macbook

1. 

   Keep key ⌥ Option. This key is in the lower right of the keyboard, just to the left of the left navigation key.

   Press P. The π symbol will appear immediately.

Method 2 of 6: Generate Pi symbols on the computer

   Press the key Num ⇩. You can find this key on the right or left side of the keyboard.

   Press and hold the key Alt. You can find this key under the keyboard, to the right and left of the spacebar Spacebar.

3. 

   Using the numeric keypad, type 227. The numeric keypad consists of a series of numbers from 0-9, located to the right of the keyboard. You can also use numbers 960.

   Release the key Alt out. After we type the number and let go of the key Alt will appear.

Method 3 of 6: Insert the pi symbol on laptop

1. 

   Press Num ⇩. Most laptops have "hidden" numeric keypads that are activated only when you turn on the key Num ⇩ up. This feature is usually located on the left or right side of the keyboard.
   • If your keyboard has these features, you will see some numbers or characters printed in small fonts, sometimes in different colors, below the key names.

   Press the key Alt. You can see it on either side of the key Spacebar.

   Type the Alt code of the symbol π 227. Remember, the Alt code on a laptop is nine numbers of another color, such as light blue or yellow, written next to the names of the 7, 8, 9, U, I, O, J, K, L keys. and M. Don't use regular number systems to type this code.
   • On most keyboards, the Alt code for pi will be KK7 or 9OMHowever, you should look at the actual Alt encoding to be sure.

4. 

   Release the key Alt out. The pi symbol will appear.

5. 

   Turn off Num ⇩ by pressing this key again. This will return the keyboard to its normal settings. advertisement

Method 4 of 6: Copy the symbol π from the Internet

1. 

   Look for the symbol π on the Internet. Just type the keyword "pi" and you will find it in no time. More simply, you can reuse the pi symbol on this page.

2. 

   Highlight the symbol π. Just place the cursor next to the letter, click and drag the mouse over the letter to highlight it.

3. 

   Copy the character π. You can do this by pressing a key combination Ctrl+C.

4. 

   Click where you want to use the symbol. Be it in Word, email or anywhere else.

5. 

   Paste the symbol in the desired location. Just press Ctrl+V, the π symbol will appear. advertisement

Method 5 of 6: Create a ╥ symbol on a computer - smaller and lower

This method produces pi signatures slightly differently from those mentioned above. The symbols will be smaller and lower than the rest of the text.

   Make sure the numeric keypad is turned on. If not, press the "Num Lock" key on the numeric keypad to activate it. The numeric keypad is usually located to the right of the main body of the keyboard.

2. 

   Hold down the "Alt" key. You can find this key below, to the right and left of the spacebar.

3. 

   On the numeric keypad, type "210".

4. 

   Release the "Alt" key. The symbol will appear.

Method 6 of 6: Insert the ╥ symbol on Word document

This will be the simplest method of generating the pi symbol you will ever know.

1. 

   Open a Word file with a word processor. LibreOffice, OpenOffice or Microsoft Office can all be used.

2. 

   Change the font to "Symbol.’

3.
