This article will show you how to permanently delete your Amazon account. Amazon account cannot be removed from the mobile app.

Steps

1. 1 Go to Amazon site. If you are already signed in, you will be taken to the Amazon home page.
   • If you are not already signed in, hover over Account & Lists, click Sign in, enter your email address and password, and click Sign in again.
2. 2 Make sure you don't have any outstanding orders or transactions. If you need to send or receive a package, wait until the end of the transaction, and only then proceed to closing your Amazon account.
   • To cancel orders in progress, click on Orders in the upper right corner of the Amazon home page, open the Open Orders tab at the top of the page, click Cancel in the right side order, and then - "Cancel selected items" on the right side of the window.
3. 3 Click on Help in the lower right corner of the page under Let Us Help You.
4. 4 Click on Need More Help? (Didn't find the answer to your question?) At the bottom of the Browse Help Topics section.
5. 5 Click on Contact Us at the top right of the Browse Help Topics section.
6. 6 Click on Prime or Something Else in the upper right corner of the “What can we help you with” section.) on the Contact Us page.
7. 7 Click on the Please make a selection> box at the bottom of the screen under “Tell us more about your issue” to display the drop-down menu.
8. 8 Select Account settings at the top of the topic list.
9. 9 Click on the second Please make a selection> box just below the first to also display the drop-down menu.
10. 10 Select Close my account. This will bring up a third section with the following feedback options:
    • E-mail (By e-mail);
    • Phone (By phone);
    • Chat
11. 11 Choose one of the feedback options. The further sequence of actions will depend on the option chosen:
    • Email - Enter the reason for deleting your account, and then click “Send E-mail” below the field for additional information.
    • Phone - Enter your phone number in the appropriate fields next to the heading "Your number", then click Call me now.
    • Chat - wait for the support representative to come online and then inform him that you want to close your account.
12. 12 Wait for the account to be deleted. The account will be closed within the time period specified by the Amazon representative.

Tips

• Once you delete your Amazon account, there is nothing stopping you from creating a new account using the same contact details.
• Before closing your account, please check the details of your bank account that is connected to your Amazon account. After you close your account, your balance will be transferred to the specified bank account.
• If you are a Kindle publisher, download and save your Kindle content before closing your account. After deleting your account, you will lose access to this content.

Warnings

• You cannot delete an Amazon account through the Account Settings section.
• Once your Amazon account is deleted, it will no longer be available to you or Amazon partners such as Amazon Sellers, Amazon Associates, Amazon Payments, and others. If you want to use Amazon again after deleting your account, you will have to create a new account.
