This wikiHow page will teach you how to block calls from anonymous numbers or prevent people who aren't in your contacts from contacting you on iPhone.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: use Do Not Disturb mode

1. 

   Open the iPhone's Settings. It's a gray app that has gears on the home screen.

   Press Do Not Disturb (Do not bother). This item is located near the top of the menu, next to a purple icon with a moon inside.

   Press Allow Calls From (Allows calls from). This item is in the middle of the screen.

   Press All Contacts (All contacts). This item is located in the "Groups" section of the menu. Now, when "Do not disturb" mode is turned on, only phone numbers in your phonebook can reach you.
   • Swipe up from the home screen or lock screen and tap the crescent moon icon at the top of Control Center to turn the mode on or off Do not bother.

Method 2 of 3: Block unknown calls

1. 

   
   
   Open the Phone app. This is the green app located in the lower left corner of the iPhone's home screen. It has an icon shaped like a phone.

2. 

   Press Contacts (Phonebook). This option is in the bottom center of the screen and has a silhouette of a person.

3. 

   Press +. This item is in the upper right corner of the screen.

4. 

   Enter "Unknown" in the first and last name fields.

5. 

   Press Save (Save). It's in the top right corner of the screen.

6. 

   Press Block this Caller (Block this caller). This item is at the bottom of the screen.

7. 

   Press Block Contact (Block contact). Now, most calls labeled as "Unknown" will be blocked from your iPhone.
   • People who call you from an unknown number will not be able to reach you.

Method 3 of 3: Block calls from unknown numbers

1. 

   Open the Phone app. This is the green app located in the lower left corner of the iPhone's home screen. It has the icon of a phone.

2. 

   Press Recents (Recently). It is a clock icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.

3. 

   Click ⓘ next to strange phone number. It's a blue icon on the right side of the screen.

4. 

   Scroll down and tap Block this Caller (Block this Caller). This item is at the bottom of the menu.

5. 

   Press Block Contact (Block contact). From now on, this number will not be able to make calls to your iPhone. advertisement

• If a friend or relative calls you from an anonymous number or a number that is not in contacts, they will not be able to contact you on iPhone.
