This wikiHow teaches you how to determine if someone is blocking you on Facebook Messenger. Although Facebook hides this information for privacy reasons, you can still tell if someone is blocking your messages through certain errors.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On phone or tablet

1. 

   Open Facebook Messenger. Look for the blue dialogue frame icon with white lightning, located in the Home screen or in the app drawer (if you have an Android device).
   • Blocking messages is not the same as blocking a person on Facebook. When someone intercepts your messages, you are still Facebook friends and can interact with each other's timeline. They can also unblock you at any time.

   Type the person's name in the search box at the top of the screen. A list of names matching what you typed will appear.

   Tap the person's name in the search results. Your conversation with this person will open.

   Enter a message in the text box at the bottom of the chat screen.

   Click the send button with the paper plane icon. If you get a pop-up message that says, “This person isn't available right now,” then that means that the opponent has blocked your message, deactivated your account. or block you on Facebook.
   • If no errors occur, your message is being sent to their inbox. It is possible that this person is just not logged in to read the news.

   Determine if someone has disabled their account or blocked you. If you receive an error message, the last step is to use the Facebook app to find out if their profile is different.
   • Open Facebook (the blue icon with the white "f" on the Home screen) and find the person's name. If they can't find their profile, they may have disabled their account or blocked you. If this person's profile appears normal, they will only block your messages.
   • If you can't find the person's profile, there's only one way to know if you've been blocked — have a mutual friend visit the other person's profile. If a mutual friend can see this person's profile and you can't, you have been completely blocked by that user.

Method 2 of 2: On the computer

1. 

   Navigate to https://www.messenger.com. You can use any web browser to access Facebook Messenger on your computer.
   • Blocking messages is not the same as blocking a person on Facebook. When someone intercepts your messages, you are still Facebook friends and can interact with each other's timeline. They can also unblock you at any time.

   Sign in to your account. If you're already signed in, you'll see a list of recent chats. If not, click Continue as “your name” (Continue as "your name") or enter your login information when prompted.
