How sources are cited depends entirely on the style of the literature used. The Modern Language Association method is often found in the humanities, while the Chicago method is found in publishing. The American Psychological Association method is used in academic and scientific writing. Read on for options for citing non-author websites.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Method One: Citing Chicago-Style Websites

1. 1 Find the owner of the site. Write down the name of the company, use their spelling and capital letters. Put a full stop after the site owner's name.
2. 2 Next, add the title of the article. Put a full stop after the title. The entire name is enclosed in quotation marks.
3. 3 Write a general website address. For example, NBC.com. Use a full stop at the end, as after a .com or .gov.
4. 4 Copy the URL of the page. Put it after the website address. There is no full stop at the end.
5. 5 At the end, add the date you visited the site. Write it in brackets and add a period at the end. For example, "(accessed June 3, 2013)."
   • An example of citing a website without an author using the Chicago method would be: Wikimedia Foundation. "Neuropathy." Wikipedia.org. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuropathy (accessed July 15, 2013).

Method 2 of 3: Method Two: Website Citation in MLA (Modern Language Association) Style

1. 1 Start with the title of the article in quotation marks. Place a period in front of the last quotation mark. For example, "Childrearing in Asia."
2. 2 Add the site name in italics. Put a full stop after the title.
3. 3 Write to the owner of the site. For example, publisher Harper Collins may own the site, so you add its full name.
   • Look at the very bottom to find information about its owner. If it is not there, then check the "About Us" section on the site itself.
4. 4 Add the publication date in day, month, and year format. For example, "November 16, 2013."
5. 5 If the publication date is not indicated in the article, then instead of the date, write the letters "n.etc. ".
6. 6 Write the word "Web.’
7. 7 At the end, write the date of your reference to the article.
   • For example, to cite the same Wikipedia article on Neuropathology, you would write "Neuropathy." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation. n.d. Web. July 15, 2013.

Method 3 of 3: Method Three: APA (American Psychological Association) Website Citation

1. 1 First write the names of the document. Do not italicize it or use quotation marks. Each name is followed by a period.
2. 2 Add the date of last modification or copyright in parentheses. For example, (2013, June 6).
   • Put "n / a" instead of a date if you can't find it.
3. 3 Write the title of the article.
4. 4 Finish all with the URL where you found this page.
