Treats with Rice Krispies are a classic delicious dessert that is super easy to make. You can make traditional Rice Krispies treats using original Rice Krispies cereal, or make a chocolate version if you fancy something sweeter. You can even make Rice Krispies treats with different types of corn flakes. When you're done, eat the treats as is, or decorate them with icing, melted chocolate, or sprinkles!

To step

Method 1 of 3: Original treats with Rice Krispies

  1. Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature. The treats should be able to stay fresh for two days. If you want to keep them longer, put them in an airtight container (separating the layers of treats with waxed paper) and they can be kept frozen for up to six weeks.
    • If you've frozen your Rice Krispies treats, let them thaw at room temperature for 15 minutes before eating them.

Method 2 of 3: Chocolate treats with Rice Krispies

  1. Let the mixture cool for 15 minutes before dicing. When your Rice Krispies treats have cooled, cut them into 5cm squares so they are easy to bite away.
    • To keep your chocolate treats, keep them in an airtight container at room temperature (no longer than two days). To keep them longer, you can freeze them in an airtight container for up to six weeks.

Method 3 of 3: Decorating the treats

  1. Glaze your treats to give them a sweet, festive accent. Once your Rice Krispies have cooled, spread some icing over the top of the Krispies with a spatula (before cutting into squares). You can do this with colorful ready-to-use icing, or your own icing, and mix it with food coloring, depending on the occasion!
    • To make your Rice Krispies even more special, mix some sprinkles into the icing before spreading it over the krispies.
  2. Dip your treats in melted chocolate or candy for a decadent dessert. First, melt some chocolate chips or candies in the microwave. Then dip each Rice Krispies treat in the mixture, and place on some waxed paper to dry. You can dip the whole treat in the mixture, or just dip half of it so that some of the Rice Krispies can be seen.
    • For an extra decorative touch, sprinkle some edible glitter or candies over the melted chocolate or candies while it's still wet.
  3. Turn your treats into lollipops with Rice Krispies using wooden sticks. Once the treats have cooled and you've cut them into individual squares, push a wooden stick or popsicle stick into the bottom of each treat. You or your kids can eat the treats while holding the stick like a lollipop!
    • You can find wooden skewers or popsicle sticks at the supermarket or discount shop.
