A sprinkle of freckles on your nose can be a fun way to do something different with your look and create a youthful, summery feel. Freckles usually appear on fair skin tones due to sun exposure and are actually a sign of surface damage. Avoid sun exposure and instead create cute fake freckles for a healthier approach to this adorable look.
To step
Method 1 of 3: Using eyeliner
Gather the necessary materials. You will need a light brown cream eyeliner (a few shades darker than your natural skin tone), a blush brush or beauty blender, and a cotton ball.
- Do not use liquid eyeliner; this smudges off easily and looks less natural.
Choose a light brown eyeliner pencil. You will use this to create the freckles on your cheeks.
- Compare existing freckles, if you have any, with the eye pencil to pick a color. If you don't have freckles, look for moles on your skin and choose a color that resembles them.
- Do not use liquid eyeliner; the results will not look like freckles!
Choose a cream concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. Put a tiny bit of this on your fingers and gently tap it over the freckles you just made.
- Continue to tap the freckles with your fingers until they reach a color that you're happy with. The longer you go, the more subtle the freckles will be in the end.
Tips
- If your results are darker than you want them to be, you can exfoliate with a gritty facial scrub to make the freckles more subtle.
- Practice the technique you choose on your arm or leg, or some other inconspicuous spot, before starting on your face; especially when using the self-tanner method, which will be much more difficult to remove if you are not happy with the results.
- Keep the dots small and don't over-place them for a subtle look, or add more for a more "en vogue" look.
- If you are using a makeup method such as eyeliner, bring the makeup with you in your purse when you go out, in case your face gets smudged and needs touch up.
- Experiment with other cream or liquid makeup products; as long as they are brown and matte, products like mascara, brow gel, foundation, concealer, or cream eyeshadow can also work to create freckles.
- Always wash your hands after using self-tanner.
Warnings
- When using a new product, it is always smart to do a "patch test" in an inconspicuous place before using it on your face. Apply a little and wait 24 hours to check for responses.
- Always avoid getting self-tanner in the eyes, mouth or other mucous membranes.
Necessities
- Dark self-tanner (preferably foam or spray) or eyeliner
- Concealer
- Granulated face exfoliant (or a tablespoon of granulated sugar if you don't have a facial scrub)
- Soap
- A very small make-up brush; an eyeliner brush works well for this
- Kabuki brush
