Despite its blocky appearance, Minecraft is a difficult program to run for many computers. Fortunately for all money-conscious Minecrafters, there are plenty of ways to make Minecraft run faster and suffer less lag.

Method 1 of 3: Simple adjustments

1. Close all other windows and unnecessary programs.
   • If you want music, it is easier for your PC if you run it on your mobile or iPod.
2. Lower the graphics settings in Minecraft.
3. Update Java and the graphics card drivers.
   • Also make sure you are running 64-bit Java IF you have a 64-bit system.
4. Defragment your computer and delete old and unnecessary files from your hard drive.

Method 2 of 3: Things you can install or modify

1. Install Optifine and decrease Minecraft's graphics settings even further.
2. Install a texture pack with low resolutions.
3. Set Java as a high priority program.
4. Allocate more RAM to Minecraft.

1. Buy and install more RAM or a new graphics card.
