Jinx is a game that is often played in the playground. The game starts when two people say the same thing at the same time. You probably played it when you were a kid, although some of the variations below may be new to you after all. Jinx is also a board game similar to tic-tac-toe. Method 1 of 3: Play the game

1. Learn the basic rules. Jinx happens when two people say the same word or phrase at the same time. For example, if you and a friend say "Wow!" Or "That's great!" At the same time, it could be considered a jinx.
2. Start the game. Once a word is said at the same time, the first person to say "jinx" begins the game.
3. Know what is happening during the game. If you say "jinx", the other person is not allowed to speak for the rest of the game. If, on the other hand, the other person says "jinx" first, you are not allowed to talk for the rest of the game.
4. End the game. The game ends when the person who originally said "jinx" says the other person's name or when the person talking has lost the game.
5. Know the consequences of the game. If the person who was "jinned" speaks during the game, that person owes the person who jinned a drink, usually a Coke.

Method 2 of 3: Learn the variations of the Jinx game

1. Trick a person in Jinx. You can trick a person by asking a simple question. For example, if you say "What's 2 plus 2?", The other person will usually say "4". In that case, you can say "4" at the same time and then immediately say "Jinx" after it to start the game.
2. Know the variations. In some variations, the person jinxting can hit the person who is jinxed if he or she talks before the game is over.
3. Understand the "American Jinx" variety. There is a variation where if you say the same sentence, you can say "American jinx, touch wood" instead of just saying "jinx". You play the game the same way with one exception: the first person to touch wood gets to hit the other person.

If it happens again when you say "double jinx", it changes to "padlock jinx", in which you must also say the person's middle names to end the game.

Method 3 of 3: Playing the board game Jinx

1. Understand the basics. Jinx is a lot like tic-tac-toe. However, the board is bigger and you roll the dice to determine where to play.
2. Make sure you have all the supplies you need. You need something to write on, a board, the game pieces, a black die and a white die.
3. Roll the dice. Roll the dice to see who starts. The person with the highest combined number starts first.
4. Roll the dice to start the game. The first player rolls both dice. The dice determine where you play. The numbers for the white die are on one side of the board, and the numbers for the black die are on the other side. Match the numbers to determine your space.
5. Place your playing piece in your space. Place your playing piece in the right place.
6. Know the mix-ups. If you roll the same place twice it is called a jinx and that means you remove all your pieces from the board. If you throw into another player's room, you can remove his piece and put yours down.
