Folded paper hearts are great for Valentine's Day decorations or fun gifts for loved ones. You can easily make paper hearts yourself with a few square sheets of paper.

Method 1 of 2: Making an origami heart

1. Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally and then unfold it. Start turning the paper so it looks like a diamond. Then fold the top point down so that it touches the bottom point. Make the fold sharp and unfold.
   • If you don't have a square piece of paper, cut a regular piece of paper into a square.
2. Turn the paper so that you are facing the fold from the last fold. Hold the paper with both hands so that you have one hand on each side of the fold you are looking at.
3. Fold the sides of the square over and then press them together. Remember that you are moving away from you when mountain folding. Once you've made four mountain folds - one on each side of the square - press the left and right sides of the square together to flatten the paper.
   • If you press the left and right sides together, the square should fold on itself so that it is tucked into the flattened paper. If not, help it by pressing the center of the square with your finger.
4. Repeat steps 10-16 with the right side of the paper. This time, with the valley and mountain fold, fold the right point, instead of the left point. Find the square fold on the right side of the paper, tuck it into the paper so it is hidden from view, and mountain-fold the three points to round the edges of your heart.
   • Once you are done with the right side, your heart is ready!
