Brooches are a great way to add color and sparkle to any outfit. They can be used as a simple fashion statement or you can wear them to show off organizations you are a member of, movements you support, awards you have won and things you like. You can even wear brooches on accessories such as ties, backpacks, purses, caps and scarves.

Method 1 of 2: Wear a brooch on your clothes

1. Wear a brooch on your collar. Spice up your look by pinning one or more brooches along the neckline of your dress or blouse. If you only have one brooch, place it in the center of the neckline. Alternatively, you can place the brooch (s) off-center. Distribute them evenly and in balance.
   • If you want to wear more than one brooch, make sure they are in the same theme or color palette.
2. Pin a brooch to your waist. Place a large pin on your waist instead of a shirt collar or lapel. This adds a fun feature to dresses or blouses, drawing attention to the waist.
3. Put a pin through the lapel of your jacket. Attach the pin just to the outside edge of the buttonhole on the left lapel. If you're wearing multiple pins, put them all together on the same side. An odd number setup looks nicer because asymmetry attracts attention.
   • Wear as few pins as possible at a time, as too many of them together can be distracting and make it more difficult to notice the details of the pins.
4. Replace the top button of a jacket with a pin. This is a great way to add some interesting detail to what could otherwise be a boring suit. Choose a flashy or shiny pin to really make it stand out.
5. Add a brooch to the back of your dress. If you have a dress with a deep V in the back, adding a brooch makes for an attractive and eye-catching detail. This is an excellent option for a chic event such as a gala or a Christmas party.
6. Decorate your jacket with pins. With pins on your denim or leather jacket you get an interesting and unique look. You can place them on the collar or lapel, the front of the jacket, the sleeves and even the back. Don't worry about attaching a lot of pins to your jacket; the material is strong enough to hold them and the more pins you add, the bigger your statement becomes.
7. Put a brooch on your sweater. Place one in the middle if your sweater has a V-neck, or pin a few to the side. You can even wear a brooch on the shoulder or sleeve to add a captivating detail to your outfit.

Method 2 of 2: Add a pin to your accessories

1. Wear a tie clip. A tie clip not only makes a statement, but also keeps your tie away from spilled liquids. Place the pin about 5 cm above the top button on your jacket. If you're wearing a sweater instead of a jacket, attach the pin in the center of the tie's button.
   • You can choose a pin to match your tie or shirt, or go for a contrasting color or design.
2. Show your pin on a cap. Use just one to display a special pin, or choose a collection of pins and put them all on it. Placing the pin (s) off-center creates an intriguing look.
3. Use your brooch as a chain pendant. Open a spring ring, attach it to the back of your brooch and close it. Thread a piece of ribbon, silk cord, or fine chain through the ring.
4. Wear a brooch as the buckle on a ribbon belt. Cut two pieces of ribbon 60 cm longer than your waist or hips, depending on where you want to attach the belt. Lay the ribbons together and sew along the sides and as close to the edges as possible. Fold 0.5 cm on each end. Fold it again by half an inch and sew through the center of the fold. Put on the belt and use your brooch to hold the ribbon together so that the ends can hang loose.
5. Put a brooch on your bag. A brooch can add flair to backpacks, bags or clutches. You can display a special brooch or add a lot for a fun and funky look.
6. Wear a brooch as a scarf holder. Drape your scarf around your neck and tie it loosely. Place your brooch in the center of the knot. Or do not tie the scarf, but pin the layers together to keep it in place.
7. Add a brooch to your hair accessories. By putting a brooch on a hair band, you get a more chic hairstyle. Wear the brooch on one side of your headband or bandana. Place a brooch in the center of your hair tie or scrunchie to give your hair a little flair.
