This article will show you how to remove a Sim from The Sims 4, The Sims 3, or Sims FreePlay without having to finish the Sim.

To step

Method 1 of 3: The Sims 4

1. Open the "Manage Worlds" menu. click on ⋯ in the top right corner of the screen, then click "Manage Worlds" in the menu.
   • You will now see a window asking if you want to save the game. This is a good idea in case you change your mind or accidentally delete the wrong Sim.
2. Select the Sim's house. Find the house the Sim lives in and click on it.
3. click on ⋯. This is at the bottom right of the screen. Here you get additional options.
4. Click on the icon for "Manage household". It has the shape of a house and is located at the bottom right of the screen. This will open the "Manage Household" window with a list of all Sims living in the house.
5. Click on the icon for "Edit". It is in the shape of a pencil and is located at the bottom right of the "Manage Household" window. You will now open the Sims editor.
6. Select a Sim. Move your cursor over the head of the Sim you want to remove. The Sim's head can be found in the lower left corner of the screen.
7. Wait for the X appears. After about a second, a red and white will appear X above the Sim's head.
8. click on X. This one is above the Sim's head.
9. click on ✓ as confirmation. You now remove the Sim from the game.
10. Remove the Sim from the household. If you don't want to delete the Sim, just take it out of the household, here's what you can do:
    • Open the "Manage Household" menu.
    • Click on the "Move" icon. It looks like two arrows and is located at the bottom right of the window.
    • Click on the "Create New Household" icon above the right pane.
    • Click on the Sim you want to move.
    • Click on the right arrow located between the two windows to move the Sim to the new household.

Method 2 of 3: The Sims 3

1. Back up your saved game. In The Sims 3 you will have to use cheats to delete your Sim. You run the risk of errors in the game, and in the worst case even ruining your progress in the game. So always make a backup of the game before you start:
   • Windows - Open This PC double click on your hard drive, double click on the folder Program Files, open the folder Electronic Arts, open the folder The Sims 3, open the folder Saves, search for the correct file and click on it, press Ctrl+C. and paste the file elsewhere by going to another folder and pressing Ctrl+V..
   • Mac - Open Finder, open your user folder, open the folder Documents, open the folder Electronic Arts, open the folder The Sims 3, open the folder Saves, search for the correct file and click on it, press ⌘ Command+C. and paste the file elsewhere by going to another folder and pressing ⌘ Command+V..
2. Turn on cheats. Press Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C. (or ⌘ Command+⇧ Shift+C. on a Mac), then type testingcheatsenabled true and press ↵ Enter. This is how you turn on cheats in The Sims 3.
3. Make sure you don't control the Sim you want to remove. You cannot delete a Sim while controlling that Sim.
   • If you are currently controlling the Sim, you can change this by clicking on another Sim.
4. Keep ⇧ Shift and click on the Sim. You will now be presented with a list of options around the Sim's head.
5. click on Object…. This is above the Sim's head.
6. click on remove. This option is right above the Sim's head. This will remove the Sim from the game.
7. Recover a Sim. If a Sim is acting strangely (for example, getting stuck somewhere, or falling through the floor) you can also reset that Sim with a different code. Open the cheat window again with Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C. (or ⌘ Command+⇧ Shift+C. on a Mac). Type now resetSimfollowed by a space, then the Sim's full name, then press ↵ Enter.
   • For example, if the Sim Joira Johnson is stuck, type here resetSim Joira Johnson in.
   • This will reset all wishes and moods of the Sim.
8. Try a different recovery method. Use this method if the reset code above doesn't work:
   • Type moveObjects on in the cheat window.
   • Enter Buy Mode and pick up your Sim to remove it.
   • click on ⋯ and select "Edit City".
   • Click on the icon with the two houses. This is the option to switch households.
   • Switch households, play for a few minutes, then return to your family with the troubled Sim. The "deleted" Sim should now reappear on the sidewalk.

Method 3 of 3: The Sims FreePlay

1. Find a Sim to delete. Scroll around the world until you find a Sim you want to remove from FreePlay.
2. Tap the Sim you want to remove. When you control this Sim, you will now see the options for that Sim in a pop-up menu.
   • If you are not controlling the Sim, first tap the green "Switch Selection" icon in the top right corner of the menu to control this Sim. Then tap the Sim again.
3. Tap the "Delete" icon. This is a red and white circle with a diagonal line through it. This option is located to the right of the Sim's head, at the top of the popup menu.
4. Tap on YES. This is a green button at the bottom of the dialog. This will remove the Sim from your FreePlay game.
   • You cannot undo this decision.

Tips

• Of course, you can also get rid of your Sim by letting him or her die.

Warnings

• Cheats in The Sims 3 can mess up your saved game, causing you to lose all progress in the game. You can avoid this by backing up your saved game.
