This wikiHow teaches you how to disable the Google app on your device to remove the Google search bar from your home screen on Android.

To step

1. Open the Apps menu of your Android. This is a menu of all apps for Android and third-party apps installed on your device.
2. Tap on it Tap on Apps in the Settings menu. A list of all your apps will open.
   • Depending on your device and current software, this option may also include the title Applications or have another similar name.
3. Tap on Google. The Google icon looks like a colorful "G" in a white circle. Tapping turns the page App info opened to the Google app.
4. Tap the Switch off button on the App info page. You will have to confirm your action in a pop-up window.
5. Tap on OK to confirm. This will disable the Google app on your device.
   • You can remove all app updates, but you cannot remove the Google app from Android.
6. Restart your device. Switch your phone or tablet off and on again. This ensures that any new changes to the app settings are applied to your device. Since the Google app is now disabled, you no longer have the Google search bar on your device.
