There are thousands of free apps for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod that users download urns perfectly legally. These apps can be completely free, or can be trials, demos, or lite versions of paid products. Using free apps can save you a lot of money in the long run, and you can download them directly from the App Store. What if you live somewhere where you can't access Apple's App Store? You may then wonder how to download popular apps for your iOS device. One way you can do this is to "jailbreak" your device and use a third-party installer to install apps.

Method 1 of 4: Find free apps from the App Store

1. Open the App Store. While there are many apps that require a purchase, there are also thousands of apps in the market that are completely free. These apps can be free versions of paid apps, or completely free with no strings attached.
2. Log in with your Apple ID. You need a valid Apple ID to download free apps. You can create an Apple ID without linking credit card information and other payment methods.
3. Browse to your app. There are a variety of categories and featured apps to choose from. You can use these categories to find apps you like, or you can use the search bar to search for specific apps. Free apps will indicate "Free" in the pricing section of the app description.
4. Tap an app to view its details. When you find an app you want, tap it to open all the details of the app in a new window. Here you can see whether the game is suitable for everyone, and whether purchases from the app are required.
   • If the app offers in-app purchases, there will be a small notification under the company name. Often this means that the full functionality of the app requires the purchase of one or the other.
5. Tap the "Free" button. Thus, the button will change to an "Install" button.
6. Tap the "Install" button. If your Apple ID asks for a password, you must provide it to install the app. The app will now start to download and install. When the installation of the app is completed, it will appear on your home screen.
   • If your device is set up so that it can only download via WiFi, you will need to wait until you are connected to a network before the download starts.

Method 2 of 4: Using AppCake

1. Jailbreak your device. To use AppCake, you need to jailbreak your device. How to do this varies by version, but all jailbreaks require the installation of Cydia. This is a program that allows you to install jailbroken apps on your device.
   • JJailbreaking your iPhone will void the warranty. If you want to send the device in for repair under warranty, you need to repair it first. This will undo the jailbreak.
2. Install AppSync. In order to install apps that you downloaded from AppCake, you must first have AppSync installed. This program will configure apps that you have downloaded from AppCake to work on your device.
   • Open Cydia and tap Manage. Select Sources and press the Edit button. Tap Add.
   • Enter a repo that contains AppSync. One such repo is: http://appaddict.org/repo.
   • Select the recently added repo and look for the bundle AppSync. Press Install, then Confirm. When installation is complete, tap the Restart SpringBoard button.
     • iOS 5.x. users must download AppSync 5.0+
     • iOS 6.x users must download AppSync 6.0+
3. Install AppCake. AppCake allows you to download cracked apps that other users have already cracked and uploaded. You can then download it directly to your device.
   • Open Cydia and tap Manage. Select Sources, and press the Edit button. Tap Add.
   • Enter the AppCake repo, cydia.iphonecake.com.
   • Select the new AppCake repo and download the AppCake program. Install it and restart SpringBoard.
4. Open AppCake. You can browse the categories of free apps. Tap the app you want and tap the Download button. This will open a list of places where you can download the app.
   • If you'd rather buy the app, tap the Store button to open the App Store page for that app.
5. Choose a place where you want to download the app. AppCake itself does not host any files on their servers. Instead, cracked apps are uploaded by users through other services. When you select an app, you will see a list of these apps.
   • Often the sources are no longer available when you choose them. Try other sources until you find one that works.
   • The version number of the app is below the name of the source.
   • The nickname of the person who crashed the app is also under the name of the source. At least if it is known.
6. Download the file. When you have found a source, a web page will open to download the file. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the file.
7. Install the app. When the download has started, tap the Download an AppCake tab. When the download is complete you will see an Install button next to the app. Tap this button and the app will appear on your home screen after installation.

Method 3 of 4: Using AppAddict

1. Jailbreak your device. To use AppAddict you need to jailbreak your device. How to do this varies by version, but all jailbreaks require the installation of Cydia. This is a program that allows you to install jailbroken apps on your device.

   • Open Cydia and tap Manage. Select Sources and press the Edit button. Tap Add.

   • Select the recently added repo and look for the bundle AppSync. Press Install, then Confirm. When installation is complete, tap the Restart SpringBoard button.
     • iOS 5.x. users must download AppSync 5.0+
     • iOS 6.x users must download AppSync 6.0+
2. Install AppAddict. If you have AppSync installed, open Safari on your phone and navigate to the AppAddict homepage. Slide the download button to download and install AppAddict to your home screen.
   • You can also download AppAddict from their Cydia repo: http: //appaddict.org/repo
3. Browse apps for download. When you open AppAddict, you will see a window similar to the Apple App Store window. You can browse by popularity, category, or by searching for specific apps.
4. Find a source where you can download the app. Once you've chosen an app, click the "Links" button in the description to see a list of sources.
5. Download the file. When you have found a source, a web page will be opened. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the app.
6. Install the app. When the download is complete, swipe right in AppAddict to open the main menu. Select the Installer to open a list of already installed apps. Tap the app and choose Install. Then choose Install again. When the installation is complete, the app will appear on your home screen.

Method 4 of 4: Using Zeus moss

1. Jailbreak your device. To use Zeusmos, you need to jailbreak your device. How to do this varies by version, but all jailbreaks require the installation of Cydia. This is a program that allows you to install jailbroken apps on your device.
   • Jailbreaking your iPhone will void the warranty. If you want to send the device for repair under warranty, you need to repair it first. This will undo the jailbreak.
   • Open Cydia and tap Manage. Select Sources and press the Edit button. Tap Add.
   • Enter a repo that contains AppSync. One such repo is: http://appaddict.org/repo.
   • Select the recently added repo and look for the bundle AppSync. Press Install, then Confirm. When installation is complete, tap the Restart SpringBoard button.
     • iOS 5.x. users must download AppSync 5.0+

2. Install Zeusmos. Open Cydia and add a repository containing Zeusmos. There are several popular reproductions that offer Zeus moss. Download it from Repo and it will be installed on your home screen.
3. Browse the apps. If Zeusmos is installed, open it and tap the menu button. Browse the categories or search for a specific app.
4. Download the app. When you have chosen an app, tap the Download button in the app overview. This will show you some links to the app. The apps have been uploaded by other users. The name of the link tells you where the file is hosted.
   • When you have found a source, a web page will open. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the app.
5. Install the app. Once the file has been downloaded, tap the Downloads tab in Zeusmos. Tap the downloaded app. Tap the Install IPA button to begin the installation. When the installation is complete, the app will appear on your home screen.
