Most microwave ovens have interior lighting that comes on when heated or when a door is opened. This light is not necessary for the microwave to work, but it is much more convenient to use it. If your microwave light bulb burns out, here's what to do.

Steps

1. 1 Disconnect the plug from the outlet, or turn off the power supply to the microwave oven using the breaker.
2. 2 Examine your microwave and find a ventilation grill. It will be located on the front, side or rear depending on production, model and build.
3. 3 Find the screws that secure the ventilation panel and remove them.
4. 4 Remove the microwave ventilation panel and set it aside. To do this, you may need to remove the top and side panels as well.
5. 5 Determine where the box is where the light bulb is located.
6. 6 Unscrew the screws securing this box.
7. 7 Remove the light bulb box.
8. 8 Unscrew the light bulb from the box.
9. 9 Screw in a new bulb.
10. 10 Place the box with the light bulb in place and tighten the screws.
11. 11 Screw the ventilation panel back tightly with the screws.
12. 12 Plug in the microwave or reset the breaker.
13. 13 Open the microwave door to check if the new light is on. If you did everything correctly, then when you close and open the door again, the light should come on again.

Tips

• Some microwave ovens are not designed to be changed by the owner. In such cases, replacement can be made under warranty. Check the instructions and warranty for the information you need before trying to fix the problem yourself. Perhaps the installation of a new light bulb should take place at a warranty service center.
• Refer to the instructions for a description of the exact wattage and type of light bulb that fits this microwave. If there are no instructions, follow the first seven steps and take the light bulb with you to your hardware store or hardware store. Then you definitely won't be mistaken in choosing it.

Warnings

• Never try to replace a microwave light bulb if it is not de-energized.
• Do not try changing the bulb from the inner compartment to warm up. Always remove the ventilation panel and replace the inside of the bulb.
