You are using an Apple Magic Mouse and it runs on batteries! In this article, we'll walk you through how to replace the batteries in your Apple Wireless Mouse.

Steps

1. 1 Flip the mouse over.
2. 2 Disconnect the mouse by sliding the metal disc that is located next to the optical lens, near the center of the mouse.
3. 3 Below the text, there is a black tab at the bottom of the mouse. Click on the tab while sliding it away from the Apple logo and the battery cover should play a sound.
4. 4 Remove the mouse cover by lifting it from the bottom edge.
5. 5 Remove the two AA batteries one at a time.
6. 6 Install two new AA batteries.
   • Please note that Duracell batteries do not work - this issue is discussed on the Internet.
   • Apple also offers a 6-battery charger.
   • In two batteries, the “-” (minus) sign should be at the bottom and the “+” (plus) sign at the top.
7. 7 Insert the top of the battery cover into the mouse body.
8. 8 Press gently on the black tab and you should hear a clicking sound.
9. 9 Turn on the mouse by sliding the metal switch away from the center of the mouse.
10. 10 Flip the mouse over and enjoy!

Tips

• You may have to wait a bit while the mouse is connected.
  
• To conserve battery power longer, you should turn off the mouse when not in use.

Warnings

• Do not dispose of used batteries with household waste. Special containers are often available in supermarkets and landfills.
