Weaving feathers into your hair is an easy way to show that you have amazing bohemian style. Feathers come in a variety of shapes and colors, so you can choose ones that look great with your hair color and texture. If you properly attach the feathers to your hair, you can use the shampoo without the fear that the feathers will fall off. You can build feathers using glue or beads to hold them in your hair.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Attach the feathers with glue

1. 1 Buy the materials you want. This method will hold the feathers longer than others. Using glue that will attach the feathers to the ends of the hair, just like in the hair extension technique. To do this, you will need to purchase materials that you most likely will not have on hand. On the plus side, when you buy them, you have everything you need to weave feathers in your friends' hair. Go to a craft store or hair accessory store (or open an internet site) to purchase the following:
   • Long feathers: The trendiest feathers are long and thin, and usually have brown or black stripes.    • Keratin remover. This is a product that is applied to the glue when you are ready to remove the feathers from your hair. You can also wait for the feathers to fall off by themselves after two to three months.
2. 2 Select the pens you want to use. You can attach five feathers to one strand for a particularly extravagant look, but most people choose between two and three feathers. Choose feathers that will match each other - they can be the same color or different shades for a stunning effect.
   • For example, you might choose one feather in hot pink and the other in bright green. Thus, you will create a magnificent summer look.
   • Or choose one feather in an unusual color - electric blue or yellow - to make it stand out from the rest of your hair.
   • For a natural look with feathers, choose two or three brown or cream feathers of different lengths.
3. 3 Select a small section of hair. Keep your hair clean so that the glue stays in place. Part your hair in the same way as you would normally, and grab a separate section of hair, about the width of a cocktail straw, where you want the feathers to be. Don't pull the curl from the top of your hair, pick from the bottom row so that the hair on top hides the glue and the tip of the feather.
   • You can attach the feather to your scalp or just below your hair. You can attach multiple sets of feathers to the same lock of hair.

7. 7 Heat the capsule to adhere the feathers to your hair. Press down on the capsule with hair extension tongs. Hold them for 15 seconds until the capsule dissolves and adheres the feathers to your hair. Remove the tongs, squeeze the capsule and roll it between your fingers to make sure the feathers stay in place.
8. 8 Cut off the tips of the feathers. Take a sharp pair of scissors and very carefully trim off the tips of the feathers so that they don't stick out from under the capsule. Let go of the feather and cover the section with the top layer of hair.
9. 9 Take off the feathers when you get bored. The feathers will fall off on their own after two or three months. The more often you wash your hair, the faster it will happen. If you get tired of the build-up before it goes away on its own, use a keratin remover to remove the keratin capsule. Make sure you are gently removing the glue and not just peeling it off. You can damage your hair or simply pull it out.

Method 2 of 2: Attach the feathers with beads

1. 1 Buy the supplies you need. This method is not as reliable as the glue method, but since you don't actually attach the feathers to your hair, this method will do less damage to your hair. The bead method requires completely different materials, and you can find them at a craft store, beauty salon and online. Buy the following:
   • A fun set of feathers, such as faux fur, in different colors and lengths.
   • Silicone extension beads to match your hair color. They come in brown, black, light and other colors.
   • A hair extension hook or small crochet hook, thin enough for you to slip into the bead.
   • A pair of pliers.
2. 2 Choose a small lock of hair. Part your regular part and choose a small section of hair that's thin enough to be pulled through the silicone bead where you want to attach the feathers. Do not choose a curl from the top of your head, choose from the bottom so that the top layer of hair can cover the bead and the tip of the feather.
   • You can attach feathers close to the scalp or just below the hair. You can also attach multiple sets of feathers to a single lock of hair.

3. 3 Place the bead on the crochet hook. It should fit easily on it. You will need one bead for each feather.
4. 4 Wrap a curl around the hook. Take a strand of hair and wrap it around the crochet hook at the very tip. Make only one loop around the hook.
5. 5 Pull a section of hair through the bead. Place a bead over your hair and pull a section of hair through it using a crochet hook. If you can't do it with a whole curl, pull out as much hair as you can. Make sure there is enough hair in the bead to hold the feathers as heavy feathers can pull hair back. Place the bead about 1 centimeter away from the scalp so that you don't accidentally hurt yourself at night in your sleep.
6. 6 Thread the feather through the bead. The feather should be parallel to the hair. For this method, it is best to use one feather per strand of hair. If you have two small sets that work for you, you can try attaching them at the same time.
7. 7 Pinch the bead over your hair. Using a pointed pliers, press down on the bead and press the feather to your hair. Make an effort and check if it is holding tight. Remove the pliers and style your hair as usual.
8. 8 Take off the feathers when you get bored. To remove the feathers, you need pliers to press down on the other side of the bead and break it so the feathers can easily detach from the hair. Do not try to pull out the feather as this could damage your hair.
