Have you ever felt fullness, stiffness and blockage inside your ear? Earache? Itchy ear or smell? Or maybe you heard sounds inside your ear or even partially lost your hearing? There may be an ear plug in your ear. Read on to find out how to remove it!

Steps

  1. 1 Get rid of any external earwax. Use a warm, damp cloth to wipe off any visible earwax. Do not poke a cotton swab into your ear canal as you could seriously injure yourself.
  2. 2 Soften the hardened wax that creates a plug inside the ear. Use a dropper to put baby oil, medicated drops, glycerin, mineral oil, or hydrogen peroxide into your ear twice a day for three to five days. Everything you need can be purchased at your local pharmacy.
  3. 3 Flush your ear with warm water. Use a syringe, which can be found at any drugstore, to wash the drops and softened wax out of the ear.
  4. 4 Gently insert a syringe of warm water into your ear and hold a towel against it. Tilt your head so that all the water flows out of your ear.
  5. 5 Keeping your head tilted, wipe with a towel or blow-dry the outer ear at low speeds.
  6. 6 Repeat the above tips one more time if it didn't work the first time.
  7. 7 If symptoms persist and you are unable to clear the blockage yourself, see your doctor. It can quickly remove the blockage and treat any ear infection.
