With some of the household products found on any household, you can remove ink stains from the lining of your purse without having to take it to a professional dry cleaner. Here are some tips on how to remove ink stains yourself.

Method 1 of 3: Using hairspray

This method is best used if the lining of your purse can be turned outward to make sure you only apply hairspray to the soiled area. If your purse is made of leather, be careful not to get hairspray on the outer leather layer, as this could damage it.

1 Turn the lining of the purse inside out as much as possible.
2 Place several layers of paper towels or a clean cloth under the part of the lining that has the stain.
3 Spray some hairspray directly onto the ink stain. If the lining won't turn inside out, or if you're worried about hairspray getting on other parts of your purse, you can spray hairspray on a cotton swab and wipe the stain with it.
4 Blot the area lightly with a dry cloth or paper towels.
5 Then wipe with a sponge, cotton swab, or cloth soaked in clean water.
6 Repeat the process until the stain is gone. You may need to repeat these steps several times to remove the entire stain.
7 Dry the lining of your purse.

Method 2 of 3: Using rubbing alcohol

Alcohol is a common household product that can be used to remove ink stains.

1 Unscrew the lining of your purse as much as possible.
2 Take a cotton swab and soak it in rubbing alcohol.
3 Wipe the stain lightly with a cotton swab. If the ink stain is difficult to remove, you can also moisten it with rubbing alcohol and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
4 Blot the stain with a sponge, paper towel, or cloth dampened with clean water.
5 Repeat the process until the ink stain disappears.
6 Dry the lining of your purse.

Method 3 of 3: Using dishwashing liquid

This method is most effective if you can turn out most of the lining of your purse, as it will be more difficult to remove the detergent if the lining remains inside the purse.

1 Turn the lining of the purse inside out as much as possible.
2 Pour a small amount of dishwashing liquid or washing powder into a plate.
3 Apply the detergent to the ink stain using a clean cloth.
4 Then blot the stain with another cloth dampened with clean water.
5 Repeat the process until the ink stain disappears.
6 Dry the lining of your purse.

Tips

If you are concerned that you might damage your purse with these ink stain removal methods, especially if your purse is designer and very expensive, contact your store for a specific stain remover or after-sales service.
You can also use nail polish remover instead of hairspray. The active ingredient in both products is acetone, which removes stains.

Warnings
