Sometimes the private messages you receive on Twitter need to be deleted. You can delete these posts as quickly and as easy as clearing your tweets. This article will teach you how to do this.

Steps

1. 1 Open your web browser.
2. 2 Go to Twitter.
3. 3 Log in to your account.
4. 4 Click on the "Gears" icon in the upper right corner of the screen.
5. 5 Click on the "Direct messages" option.
6. 6 Click on the name of the group of private messages that you would like to get rid of.
7. 7 Hover your mouse over the text field of the message you would like to delete. You will see a trash can icon displayed slightly to the right (or left) in the box (depending on where their empty space is available).
8. 8 Click on the trash can icon.
9. 9 Look down, below is a message asking you to confirm the deletion.
10. 10 Click the "Delete message" button.

Tips

• When a Direct Message (DM) is deleted, it is also deleted from the recipient's mailbox.
• Some programs and websites that are not officially affiliated with Twitter also have ways to delete these direct messages. Find out about this process in the Help menu item in your program.
