A simple yet sensual dance that comes from the Dominican Republic, in which we feel its vivid origins, reflected in its romantic music and accompanying dance.

Steps

  1. 1 Bachata is an 8-count dance similar to salsa. Counting starts "with steps to the left" for 4 counts and movement to the right for the remaining 4 counts.
    • For example: (Left) 1,2,3, (4), (Right) 5,6,7, (8). 4 and 8 are quiet.
  2. 2 Start with both feet at the same time, stepping to the left with your left foot (1), then bring your right foot to your left (2), then step again to the left with your left foot (3), now lift your right leg slightly off the floor (4).
  3. 3 Lifting your right leg off the floor creates the effect of moving your hip to the right. That's what you need.
  4. 4 Now repeat all the same in a mirror image.
  5. 5 Step to the right with your right foot (5), Bring in your left leg (6), Step to the right with your right foot (7), Raise your left leg slightly (8) and your hip goes to the left.
  6. 6 Keep the rhythm and repeat the same.

Tips

  • Get used to the desired body movements before you start mixing everything with scrolls and turns.
  • All bachata songs are divided into sets of 4 counts.
  • Start with slow songs to get used to the movement.
