What do you need

1 Apply base coat to your nails. This will protect your nails from staining and breakage.

2 Once the base coat is dry, apply petroleum jelly, lip balm, or tape to the skin surrounding your nail. This will make it much easier to clean it up later!

3 Take as many varnish colors as you want in your design. Use only new varnish of expensive brands, as the varnish should be neither too liquid nor too thick!

4 Pick up an old bowl you don't need. The process of painting your nails is likely to ruin it, so think carefully about it beforehand.

5 Fill a bowl with filtered water. Make sure the water is at room temperature, or let it sit for an hour or two.

6 Select a varnish and remove the brush from it. Do not try to remove the droplet hanging on your wrist. Hold it over a bowl of water, a drop of varnish will fall into the water and quickly disperse over the surface of the water.

7 Do the same with the other polish of your choice and drop it down the center of the first one.

8 Continue changing varnishes until the desired degree of color mixing is achieved.

9 Use a toothpick to split the design in two (the colors will start to mix).

10 Use a toothpick to make as many lines in your design as you like.

11 When you're ready, dip your nail in a bowl and wait 10 seconds for the nail polish to dry, then remove your finger. Using a toothpick, use a rotating motion to pick up the remaining polish in a bowl.

12 The design should be imprinted on your nail.

13 Don't worry, everything will look messy at first, but you will clean up any extra spots on your skin with a cotton ball and nail polish remover.

14 Repeat steps for all other nails.

15 Again, remember to clean the area around your nails with nail polish remover.

16 When the design is dry on your nails, apply a top coat.

17 Ready.

Tips

Use different varnish colors. Try mixing light and dark tones.
It is best to use fresh varnishes, as the old ones set too quickly in the bowl.
Use a cotton swab with nail polish remover for cleaning.
Use scotch tape on your fingers to prevent dirt on them.
