If you want to make your profile less visible, there are several privacy options you can enable to restrict access to your information. By changing your settings, you can prevent people from reading your messages and hide your profile information. If you need to completely hide your profile, you can temporarily disable your account. All your data will be saved, but hidden from everyone until you restore access to your account.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Deactivating an account (from a computer)

1 Deactivate your page if you want to hide it for a while. Disable your Facebook page if you are going to stop using this social network for a while. This is a temporary shutdown, so the next time you log into your account, your page will be restored. While your page is disabled, your profile will be completely hidden.
- While your page is disabled, you will not be able to view content on other people's pages unless it is “Public”.
2 Click on the arrow in the upper right corner of the page and select "Settings". This will open the settings page.
3 Click on "Security". This will open the security settings page.
4 Click on the "Edit" option next to the "Deactivate account" item. This will expand the section.
5 Click on the link "Deactivate account" and follow the instructions. This way you will hide your account and log out of Facebook. Your account will remain hidden until you log into it again. Your name will be removed from most of the posts you shared, but the posts will remain. All data will be saved.
6 Log in to restore your account. If you no longer want to hide your account, please log into your account by entering the correct email address and password. This will restore all data and make your account visible to others again.

Method 2 of 4: Deactivating an account (from a mobile phone)

1 Launch the Facebook mobile application. You can deactivate your account through the app. Your profile will be hidden and your account will be deactivated until the next login.
2 Press the Menu (☰) button. It's in the upper right (Android) or lower right (iOS) corner of the screen.
3 Select the "Account Settings" option. This will open the settings menu for your account.
4 Click on "Security". This will display your account's security settings.
5 Scroll down and click on the "Deactivate" option. You will start the deactivation process.
6 Enter password. Before you start, you will be asked to enter your account password.
7 To confirm, click on the "Deactivate" button. Scroll through the form and find the "Deactivate" button at the bottom of the screen. If you want, you can report the reason for deactivating your account, but this is not required.
8 Sign in again to restore it. You can sign in and restore your account at any time using your email address and password.

Method 3 of 4: Change your privacy settings (from a computer)

1 Log into your Facebook account. To change your privacy settings, you must first be logged into your account.
2 Click on the arrow in the upper right corner of the page. It looks like this: ▼.
3 Click on the "Settings" option. This will open your account settings.
4 In the left menu, click on the item "Privacy". This will display the privacy settings of your account.
5 Hide your posts and objects you have been tagged in. You can hide your posts so that no one but you can see them, or so that only your close friends have access to them.
- Click on "Edit" next to the item "Who can see your publications in the future?"... This will change the access to your publications.
- Select Just Me to make all your posts private. This will prevent anyone other than yourself from reading the publications you create. You can choose other groups, such as Friends or Custom List, but know that anyone who can view your posts can share them with their friends.
- Click on the link "Restrict access to previous publications." This tool will automatically allow access to old posts only to friends. This will restrict access to your previous publications. 6 Don't let people post to the timeline. You can turn off the posting of content in the timeline so that no one posts anything to it. Thus, you can use your chronicle only for your own needs or turn it off altogether.
- In the left menu, click on the "Chronicle and Tags" option. This will open the chronicle settings.
- Click "Edit" next to the option "Who can publish materials in your Chronicle?"... This will allow you to decide who can post to your personal timeline.

- Click "Edit" next to the option "Who can see what others are posting in your Chronicle?"... This allows you to change who can view what other people post to your Timeline.
- Please select "Only me"... This way, no one will be able to see the content published in your timeline.
7 Hide your profile from search. Each item on your profile, such as place of work, age, location, etc., has its own privacy settings. If you don't want others to see them, make sure all settings are set to Only Me.
- Click on the Facebook button in the upper left corner of the page.
- Click on the "Edit Profile" option. It's at the top of the left menu.
- Click on the "Edit" button next to each item in your profile.

- On iPhone, you need to tap Settings and then Account Settings.
4 Click on the "Privacy" option. This will open your privacy settings.
5 Hide your posts and objects you have been tagged in. You can prevent your posts from appearing in your timeline, thereby turning your timeline into a personal blog.
- Click on the option "Who can see your posts in the future?"
- Select Only Me to hide your future posts from everyone but yourself.
- Return to the "Privacy" menu and select the option "Limit audience of posts that are open to your friends' friends or all users?". Click on the "Apply these restrictions to past publications" option, then confirm the decision to hide all your previous publications.
6 Prevent people from posting to the timeline. You can block access to the timeline so that no one can post their content on it or see the content of others.
- Return to the "Account Settings" menu and select the "Chronicle and Tags" option.

7 Hide your profile content. Each item on your profile has individual privacy settings. To hide them from sight, you need to put them in "Only me" mode.
