In addition to being able to play Wii games from discs, your Wii console can play a wide variety of classic games and small downloadable games. Follow the steps below to start buying and downloading games for your Wii.

Method 1 of 3: Adding money to your account

1. 1 Buy Wii glasses from the Wii store. Turn on the Wii and select the Wii store channel. Click "Start" then "Start Shopping" to open the store.
   • Click on “Add Wii Points” and then select “Buy Wii Points With a Credit Card”.
   • Select the number of glasses you want to buy. Prices may vary depending on the number of points selected. As a rule, games cost 1000 points or less.
   • Enter your credit card information. Wii shop accepts Visa and Mastercard. Wii Points are added immediately to your account and you can start shopping.
2. 2 Add Wii Points from your prepaid card. Wii Goggle Cards can be purchased at specialty stores and may vary in value. Enter the card code to add points to your account.
   • Open the Wii Store channel to enter the code. Open the store and click on “Add Wii Points”. Select "Redeem a Wii Points Card".
   • Remove the silver tape from the card code. This is the Points Card Activation Number. Enter the number in the “Activation Number” tab, and click OK. Your points will be added to your account immediately.
   • It is almost always cheaper to buy glasses directly through a store than buying glasses payment cards.

Method 2 of 3: Download and Play WiiWare Virtual Consoles and Games

1. 1 Know the difference between Virtual Set Top Box and WiiWare:
   • Virtual Console Games are old games that have been released for newer consoles. There are several different systems available, including Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Neo Geo, and more. Games are available individually for sale.
   • WiiWare are games made specifically for the Wii. These are new releases of Virtual Consoles games and tend to cost a little more.
2. 2 Open the store's Wii channel. Click "Start" and then "Start Shopping". Choose between watching Virtual Consoles games and WiiWare games.
   • To download games for Virtual Consoles, click on "Virtual Console". You will be given several choices to browse the Virtual Set-top box library. You can search by popularity, system used, genre, etc.
   • To download WiiWare games, click on "WiiWare". You will be given several choices by which you can search the library of WiiWare games. You can search by popularity, release date, genre, and more.
3. 3 Find the game you want to buy. When you find the game you want to buy, click on it to view the details. Click on the "View compatible controllers" button next to the figure. This selection will show you which controls the game is running with. Some games only support certain controls, so make sure you have the required devices.
4. 4 Click on "Download". You will be asked where you want to download the game. If you have an SD card installed with enough free space, you can save the game there.
5. 5 Confirm download. A confirmation window will appear which will provide information on compatible controls. Click OK to continue. A confirmation window will appear, which will provide information on how the purchase will affect your Wii Points balance and how much space the game will take after downloading.
6. 6 Wait while the game is downloading. Depending on the size of the game and your connection speed, this may take a little time. Once the download is complete, you will see a “Download successful” message and you will need to click OK to continue.
   • Your freshly downloaded games will appear in the main Wii menu.

Method 3 of 3: Download New Channels

1. 1 Open the Wii Store Channel. Click on "Start" and then on "Start Shopping". Select "Channels" from the main store menu.
2. 2 Look for the channels you want to add. These include Netflix, Hulu and others. Most of the channels are free, but many ask to pay for their company membership.
3. 3 Download the channel. After you confirm the use of free space and the use of Wii Points, the channel will start downloading. This may take a few minutes.Once downloaded, it will appear in the main Wii menu.
