Ever wanted to craft a golden snitch? It certainly won't fly on its own, but by making your own decorative golden snitch, you will show your love for the world of Harry Potter and the entertaining game of Quidditch. You just need a few simple materials and tools that can be found in any craft store, and you will soon become the proud owner of your own handmade golden snitch.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Table Tennis Ball Snitch

1. 1 Make a snitch stand with a paper clip. First, take a table tennis ball and make a small hole in it. This can be done with any small diameter sharp object. Unfold a large paper clip and make a suitable support out of it. Place the ball on a paper clip.
2. 2 Color your snitch. Place newspaper under the ball to prevent paint from staining your desk. Using a can of gold paint, apply at least two coats of paint to the ball and let dry.
3. 3 Make an outer decorative layer for the snitch. Take two more table tennis balls and cut them in half with a utility knife, kitchen knife, or scissors. On two halves of one ball, draw a spiral pattern, mirrored on each of the halves. Use your nail scissors to carefully cut out these patterns. Color in the spiral elements and let them dry. Using simple PVA glue, glue the patterns onto the whole halves so that they do not cover the cuts.
4. 4 Make the wings. Cut out two identical wing-shaped shapes out of plain paper. The easiest way is to fold a piece of paper in half and cut both wings in one go.
   • You can make wings in any way, the most important thing is that these are 2 halves of a circle of the same size. On the straight side of the details, add a fringe to represent the feathers.
5. 5 Glue the pieces together. Glue the patterned ball halves to the whole ball on the stand. Apply some glue to the tip of each wing and glue them inside the spirals. Squeeze the pieces together for a few seconds to make them stick together. Let the glue dry before you remove your Snitch from the stand.

Method 2 of 3: The Styrofoam Ball Snitch

1. 1 Color the snitch. To do this, use a golden spray paint.
   • Cover your desk with newspapers to avoid staining it.
   • Stick a toothpick into the ball so that it is convenient to hold it while painting.
   • Apply thin coats of paint to avoid soaking the styrofoam.
   • Let the product dry.
2. 2 If you want, you can decorate the ball with sparkles or sequins. Glitter or sequins can be glued on instead of painting the ball. If you want to decorate your snitch with glitter, just dab some spray glue on it and then glitter. Remove the excess with a brush, and if desired, repeat the procedure until you achieve the desired result. If you want to decorate the snitch with golden sequins, secure them with small pins, and then stick these pins into the ball so that it is completely covered with sequins.
3. 3 Attach feathers. Take two golden, yellow or white feathers, apply glue to the tips and glue them to the ball.
   • Make sure the feathers are glued to the ball exactly opposite each other.
   • If the nibs are stiff enough, you can stick them directly into the Styrofoam ball without using glue.

Method 3 of 3: Christmas Pattern

1. 1 Make the wings. On a simple piece of paper, draw snitch wings of any shape. The simpler the shape of the wing, the easier it will be for you to make it out of wire. Use two pieces of wire to make two wings.
   • Use wire cutters to cut about 10 cm of wire for each wing.
   • Bend the wire with the wire cutters so that you get the wings you drew.
   • Twist the ends of the wire tightly together.
2. 2 Finish the wings. Fold the sheet of paper on which you drew the wing in half to cut out two identical parts at once. Cut out the wings. Apply PVA glue to the wire wings, attach the paper wings to them and let dry. Apply spray glue to both sides of the wing and glue glitter to it. Shake off excess glitter.
   • You can use tissue paper instead of plain paper. Press a piece of tissue paper against the glue-coated wire frame, then trim off any excess.
3. 3 Attach the wings. On the ends of the wire wings that are twisted together, apply a generous amount of super glue and press them against the ball for 30 seconds or until they stick.
   • Make sure the wings are on opposite sides of the balloon.
   • If your piece is made of glass rather than plastic, you will need another glue, such as fabric glue.
