The simplest traps can be used to make fun of someone or get a warning that someone else has entered your home. While not to be counted on as a serious form of protection, they can be a fun and inventive form of prank. You just have to familiarize yourself with their possible options.

Method 1 of 4: Choosing the Right Trap

1. 1 Decide what your goal is. Do you want to play a prank on someone? Receive a warning that someone has entered your home? Fight off an intruder or scare him? Answering these questions will help you determine the type of trap you will be setting.
2. 2 Make a plan accordingly. You should think about the layout of the trap before you start tinkering with it. In this case, it is necessary to know well the principle of operation and the location of the trap, so as not to accidentally fall into it yourself.
3. 3 Inform your friends and family about your plans. But if you are planning to play a trick on any of your friends or family, skip this step. However, this should not allow an unforeseen target to be trapped (and injured). Therefore, alert the necessary people that you are preparing a trap and tell them how to get around it. Try to make sure they don't forget about it.

Method 2 of 4: Basic Wire Signaling

1. 1 Buy fishing wire and cut a piece as long as the width of your doorway. If necessary, measure the doorway in advance. There should be enough wire to stretch it from the door to the very top of the door frame.
2. 2 Buy a siren keychain from a hardware store. It will be a source of noise that will alert you that someone has entered the door.
3. 3 Attach the key fob body to the door. The key fob should be located on the inside of the door, otherwise the uninvited guest will calmly take it off. Since the keychain itself is very lightweight, it can be attached to the door with just tape.
4. 4 Attach one end of the wire to the horn. Make sure to attach the wire to the part of the key fob that needs to be pulled to activate the siren, not to the key fob body itself.
5. 5 Screw a small hook on the top of the door frame and hook the other end of the wire onto it. The other end of the wire must be hooked onto the hook above the door. Thus, when the door is opened, the wire will pull on the ring on the key fob and the siren signal will turn on. Make sure the wire is tight enough.
   • If you just need to find out if someone has entered your room, simply secure a piece of fishing wire across the door without any audible alarm. If the wire is torn off, you will know that someone has entered the door.
6. 6 Attach a small piece of tape to the door. This is another way to check if you have had visitors. Of course, this is not a wire alarm, but this way you can also find out that someone is hunting in your room. Try to stick the tape high on the outside of the door so that the intruder won't even notice it.

Method 3 of 4: Front Door Traps

1. 1 Scatter glass beads in front of the front door. This can be very traumatic, so think twice before setting up a trap like this. The glass balls must be on a hard floor, otherwise they are unlikely to be slipped by anyone. Try to use about 25 balls.
   • Do not forget to consider the direction of the door opening. If the door opens inward, and you leave the balls too close to the door, then the uninvited visitor will simply roll the balls out of their way with the door.
2. 2 Place a bucket of cold water on the door. Fill a medium bucket with cold water. Open the door slightly. Balance the bucket on the door by placing it on top of its top edge. The balance will be wobbly, but this is exactly what you need. When an uninvited visitor opens the door, water will spill over his head.
3. 3 Fly trap. This is an extremely unpleasant and quite effective trap for intruders. All you need is twine, nails, and a flypaper from the hardware store. Cut a couple of meters of string and tie one end of the string to the doorknob (the specific length depends on the distance from the ceiling to the doorknob; the string should be about double that). Drive two nails into the ceiling. Place the first one about 30 cm from the door, and the second about 1.5 m. Hook the string around the first nail (like a hook) and start attaching the Velcro to the remaining end. Do not wrap the Velcro around the string, just stick the string to it so that there is still a lot of sticky space left. Lightly hook the end of the Velcro string onto the second nail. When the door opens (outward), the Velcro string will slide off the second nail and swing the pendulum on the first nail right into the face of the person opening the door.

Method 4 of 4: Variety of home pranks

1. 1 Cover the toilet with cling film. This is a borderline prank that balances between cruel jokes and entertainment. For it, you need to lift the toilet seat from the toilet and tighten the top of the toilet itself with cling film. Try to make sure that the film does not wrinkle, it should be as transparent and invisible as possible.
2. 2 Shut off hot water. This should be done at the right time. If the person you want to prank is heading for the shower and the hot water tap is not in the bathroom, you can run out and shut it off. If a person gets out of the shower to test the hot water, quickly run back to turn on the tap. This can confuse anyone.
3. 3 Cut a plastic beverage bottle in half. Try to take a bottle that is already half empty. Remove the label from the bottle first, then cut it 2.5 cm above the level of the remaining beverage. Make a full cut in a circle so you can open the top and bottom of the bottle. Then, somehow, fasten the two parts together with duct tape. Then put the label back in place to mask the cut. Leave the bottle on the table - it will fall apart when someone decides to pour themselves its contents to drink.

Tips

• Try not to injure anyone with your pranks.
• Do not test the action of dangerous traps on yourself. So you can get injured.
• Choose as a sacrifice those who will calmly take your jokes.Clumsy, fearful and sensitive people can get very upset from such antics, because falling into such traps is not at all funny.
• Do not give people such pranks that you would not like to be yourself!
• Always remember the location of the dangerous traps used to defend against burglars.
• If the trap is intended for a specific person, make a supposedly random aim for him. For example, if it's someone who lives with you, pretend to tell your friend over the phone that you are hiding something in a specific place that your victim loves (where the trap is actually set). Making the necessary space desirable for the object of the draw increases the chances that the trap will trigger.
