1 Take a square piece of paper and fold it along both diagonals. Lay the sheet with one side facing you. Fold it inward diagonally, smooth the fold, then straighten it. Do the same for the second diagonal. As a result, you will have two folds that will intersect in a criss-cross pattern in the center of the square sheet.
  • You can use a 25x25 cm sheet of craft paper. These are usually the largest sheets of origami paper commercially available.
  • You can also make a larger sword from a larger sheet of paper. The larger the square sheet of paper, the larger the sword will turn out!
  • 2 Place the piece of paper in a diamond shape. In other words, lay the piece of paper so that one corner is towards you and the opposite corner is away from you. Place the paper with the colored or patterned side facing up and the smooth side on the table.
    • If a piece of paper has both sides the same, there is no reason to worry - you can still make a sword! In this case, it will be even a little easier for you.
  • 3 Fold the left and right corners so that they touch in the center of the square. The ends of the corners should meet in the middle of the sheet. Then smooth out the folds that have formed.
    • Then turn the paper over. As a result, the folded sections will be pressed against the table, and the sheet will resemble an elongated hexagon.
  • 4 Fold the long edges of the hexagon toward the center. In this case, they must touch in the center. As a result, one triangle will protrude from both sides of the sheet.
    • If the triangles do not rise up, but remain behind the sheet, simply unfold them so that they protrude outward.
  • 5 Fold the two protruding triangles so that they touch in the center of the sheet. Smooth down the folds with your fingernail. As a result, you will end up with a very elongated hexagon with a surface consisting of alternating triangles and rhombuses of different colors.
    • The color of the triangles and rhombuses will be the same if you took paper with sides of the same color.
  • 6 Fold the hexagon in half, then unfold it back. Now it's time to fold across the elongated hexagon. As a result, you will have four vertical rhombuses with triangles on the sides.
    • This fold will help align other folds later.
  • 7 Fold the sheet across across the second diamond from the bottom. In this case, the lower corner of the sheet should be aligned with the lower corner of the upper rhombus. Smooth the resulting crease well.
  • 8 Fold the top of the paper along the center line, then straighten it. See where the center fold you took a few steps back is. Fold along the top of the sheet that you folded up in the previous step. As a result, the sheet will consist of two parts: a long one and a shorter one.
    • The long part will make the blade, and the shorter part will form the sword hilt.
  • 9 Fold both sides of the short section inward to form the handle. As a result, they should meet in the center. Smooth out any creases that have formed.
  • 10 Smooth out the resulting triangles. After you fold the edges inward, small triangles form on the paper. Smooth them out so that they flatten. As a result, you will notice how the hilt of the sword begins to form.
    • The longitudinal part forms the handle itself, and the transverse part is called the guard.
  • 11 Bend the top of the sword down and then up to close the guard. First, bend the top of the sword downward over the guard and hilt. Then bend it up so that it only covers the guard.
    • If you turn the sword over, you will see that you have got the correct handle.
  • 12 Bend the side edges of the blade to create more flattened folds. The blade should not be as wide as the guard, so bend the edges so that they meet in the middle. As a result, new triangles and "flattened folds" will appear on the paper.
  • 13 Fold the bottom edge of the handle so it is rectangular. Leave a triangle at the top of the sword to make the blade look sharp, and bend the triangle at the bottom of the hilt to make it rectangular.
    • Flip the sword over and rate your work!
    • You can make swords from colorful paper so that they are enough for all your friends.
  • Method 2 of 2: Newsprint Greatsword

    1. 1 Put 7-8 newspapers together. Any kind of paper can be used, however newspaper sheets are usually larger and make much larger swords.
      • If you feel like doing something special, spray the newsprint with silver or any paint that works well for a ninja sword!
    2. 2 Roll the paper diagonally. Start at the corner and roll the paper diagonally until you reach the opposite side. The tighter you roll the paper, the stronger the sword will be.
      • Try to roll the paper as tightly as possible so that the sword is firm and does not bend!
    3. 3 Tape the ends of the sword with tape. Sturdy clear packing tape works best, although any other clear tape can be used. If you have packing tape, try wrapping it around the entire blade of the sword to make it stronger.
      • If the tip of the sword is not the right shape, cut the paper with scissors.
    4. 4 Fold another stack of newspapers and fold it diagonally to make a handle. Fold a second stack of newspapers and also roll it from the outside corner. Glue the resulting paper cylinder with clear tape.
      • At this stage, the handle will look almost the same as the blade, but it will change soon!
    5. 5 Bend the handle in half around the blade of the sword and secure it securely with tape. In this case, the blade should pass through the middle of the handle. Use duct tape to secure the handle to the blade of the sword.
      • Ready! You have made a great sword. Share these swords with your friends, and you can start the battle!

    Tips

    • If you haven't done origami before, use a larger piece of paper. In this case, you can make larger folds and details, which will reduce the likelihood of errors.

    Warnings

    • Don't try to harm anyone with your paper sword. Even a paper sword is dangerous as it can get caught in the eye or cut.
    • Do not hit too hard with the paper sword, or it may break!
